Misting your plants

Is there any benefit to misting your plants with a sprayer. I water my plants at the soil, or coco coir, but wonder if I should be misting too. And if so should it be nutrients and ph or is just plain water ok

I would not recommend misting your plants if they are under a HID light, the droplets act like little magnifying glasses and will burn the leaves. I mist, but I do it right after lights out. I have seen the results of a 1000 watt MH and misting, bad news. Not to mention, a drop of water on a nuclear hot bulb can make for a helluva explosion.

Awesome! thanks for the info, I am using CFL bulbs and was wondering about just that. However the cfl might not burn. I was going to wait till flowering stage so I could spray at lights out. Thanks again for the info.

Do you use nutes or just plain water to spray
I spray with plain distilled water, and I only do it when the humidity is below 35-40%, any higher and they will pull what they need and leave the rest. You can mist under flos and cfls as the intensity is nowhere near that of a HID light, just exercise caution anytime you have water near electricity.

Did you know that the capsule of an HID light at full power is running at up to 750 psi? Bang! cn

I mist my plants, but usually before the lights turn off. And I mist with nutes. My plants seem to love it. I foliar-fed my outdoor plants last year (just as the sun was setting), and they definitely loved it.

Yes Sir, I have a cute little scar on the back of my right arm from a 1000 watt MH. Burnt on contact. My friend who helped get me started had a few weeks of bad hair days from letting his head get to close to an open air fixture while playing in the grow room, did not hurt him, but that shit looked too damn funny and from what his wife said, stunk up the whole house.

Peace

Not sure it's wise to mist plants at flowering stage, you stand the chance of bud rot, during veg ok I guess but I never do.

I have had good results misting in vegging cycle. Since I try to let the soil dry out between waterings....I mist on the dry days. I stopped misting when I started 12-12 and flowering. I hear that misting can cause mold and problems on the flowers.

I mist with full strength nute water a few times a day. I turn off my lights when I mist and turn them back on when there's no more droplets on the leaves (usually 20min or so). Idk if it helps but it defo doesn't hurt

I gave up on foliar feeding. If I have a low humidity setup, I will mist with PH corrected water as needed to raise my RH.

Forgot to mention that's why I mist so often. I'm lucky to have the rh above 30%
Yep, In one setup I had, my RH would be about 25-30 and misting would only get me to 40-45%, but, my air exchanges were high. I had a lot of heat to displace in that situation.

This. From experience I can tell you that you can mist all day under a t5light, even 8 bulb, however under 1000W HPS or MH, you are going to damage the plant. Don't ever mist your plants in flower while the lights are on, unless of course you are led, cfl or t5 for flower.

Don't mist period...Misting has its place but it also can cause so many problems its not worth the risk IMO. I only mist if I have to kill bugs or fungis but only if there is a reason.

R/H seems to be an issue also, many here are saying that they bring up there humidity by misting...Why? My room runs from 20-35% R/H and the girls really like that dry enviorment, yes they drink and transpire a lot but its better than the possibility of a mold issue or even worse bud blight.

I wish I could keep my R/H below 30% all the time but the summer makes it almost impossible, even with 2 de-humidifiers running 24/7

Good Luck.

i've been growing for awhile and have never misted anything except a little water misting of clones that hadn't rooted yet.

don't see the point in it.

If your giving your plants water like that ,is that not sort of telling the roots not to bother growing so fast..

,except for unrooted clones..
