alright so this will be my first time growing, i will have 2 grow spots,

Spot A

This is going to be the place where i grow some giants, This is a little courtyard in the middle of my property so it is completely hidden, from any would be robbers. But since its placed in the middle of my property, ill be able to grow the plants as high as the roof, ill prob keep them between 8-10 feet. It will eventually be all closed off with one locked door to get in.
Ive been doing some research on strains, i think i may go with Dankie Doodle from Attitude. They can grow up to 12 ft and have a max yield of 1500 grams under optimal conditions.
The spot is about 18x18 and ill be getting some fine insect netting to go over the whole roof that will hopefully help keep the small insects like aphids and white flys away. Id like to fit 8 in here, but with the available space i have in there I'll probably only be able to fit 4, maybe 6 if im lucky

Spot B

started turning the dirt in this one, just need to rake it all out and flatten it now
i have a bag of about 170 or so bag seeds from various stuff over the past couple years and im gonna plant a ton of those in this area. i think i may try some kind of Scrog or Sog in this area. can those type of grows be done outdoors?

I started germinating about 60 or so of the seeds 4 days ago. Day 1 i kept them in a dark container behind my pc for heat. Day 2 i noticed some had started to pop so i moved them to paper towels inside a ziplock bag with heat over them keeping them warm. on day 3 there were 17 germinated, this morning when i looked there were 25 started, then a couple hours ago when i check about 38 had started to germinate

germinating seeds

I built a little box to hang 2 4ft floros on to keep them inside till they are rdy to go into veg when its a little warmer outside. The germinating seeds are now placed in cups and under the floros

right now the only thing i have given them is water, i might try to get some natural nutes for it tomorrow to promote root growth

Looking good do you plan to put them in pots or right in the ground?
Possibly so pots for the ones in the middle property to raise them up to the sun it looks pretty shaded in that pic.
i think you germinated a little to many to problem only do 4 in huge smart pots in the middle of the property and like 2 or 3 straight in the ground on the second spot have some huge 7 or 8 foot bushes

Thanks man.
Yea they will probably go right in the ground when. The first area is super shady right now because the time of the year, come april that spot is pretty much sunny all day. Yea i def wasn't expecting that many of them to germinate. If i can get my t5s figured out i may try to do a SOG grow with these seeds indoors since i have so many of them. Then ill just buy the dankie doodle seeeds for spot A and use some more of the bag seeds,(still have over 100) for spot B

Yeah that sounds like a good idea you can get some variety outdoor too like bag seed in the ground and some dank seeds in the other spot,
also I was going to say for the ones you are going to put in the ground you should dig that whole dirt spot up like 2 feet lay some chicken wire in the bottom for gophers and fill that in with some good soil like fox farms or roots organically something with a lot of
organic stuff in there and they will go off
you could also put a 2x6 plant to make a small raised bed so you could have almost like 3 feet of bomb soil for them

dont feed them any nutes yet...too small
also don't take anything attitude said about weight and flowering time to heart...
what are the genetics of danky doodle?
also i have a sog going indoors..i can help if you want...

That sounds like a good idea. I have really awesome soil at my house, last year my brother did a grow here outside and didnt use any nutes at all, threw them in and watered them with the garden hose every 3 days or so, and they turned out pretty nice, some of them even got like 6ft and put out about 8 oz each dry. He did 11 plants and got like 6.6 dry off the whole lot. So i cant imagine how awesome they would be if i put 2 or 3 ft of some really good stuff down first on top of the reg soil.

ok cool, noted on the nutes.

yea when i read the description i thought it was too good to be true haha. although even 8-10 feet would be good with me.

This is what attitude says the genetics are
"she is a stable hybrid of a Viking 90, Big Buds 93 and a male KC 636"

oh nice, what type of lighting do you use for yours? Also when doing a sog grow, how do you determine how many plants to use for it, its one every square something right?

i use a 600 on my sog... don't go under 50 watts per square foot...
you can get buckets from the dollar tree they are like 1.4 gallons...
for outdoor...could you run clones not seeds? i would urge you to grow something with more outdoor testing...

i could go with clones instead of seeds, just 2 things,

ive heard that clones dont do as well outside as they do inside, is this true?
also clones are a bit harder to get around here, strain wise anyways, i live in so cal so i see clones on craigs list all the time but i would be stuck with whatever they have. Clinics have clones sometimes but they usually just sell them as clones without a strain associated with them, and they are expensive as shit from clinics

do you know of any outdoor strains that you would recommend?

Yeah that's cool he did 11 last year but if it's possible I'd invest in some bomb organic soil I'm sure off of a 6 or 8 footer you can shoot for around a p for sure on the 8 footers
Good luck though man your going to have some fun this year ha

@ Dark I agree with senor in relation to not listening to strain expectations but it can go either way, I used attitude myself and they said in perfect conditions height would reach 1.5 meters. Mine have easily gone over that. If you are in a hot climate and you plant as early as you can. Late winter to early spring and they are not auto flowering you have a great deal of time to build them up and more time to raise your ppm so when they do go to flower you have monsters. taking so long though I would definitely recommend feminized seeds especially if you only have room for 6ish. 100% of my seeds reached maturity so you shouldn't need to order more than 10. If I were you I would try 2 different strains for your monsters say 3 of each and see which ones work best for your growing style and environment. If you get a really nice male from your bag seed plants you might even want to try sexing it with your better strain or both if they are worth it. Just take a couple of clones of the male and your female and put them together in another location. DO this before the pollen sacks open obviously then you wont have any risk of your girls going to seed.

To answer your question at the beginning of this thread when you were contemplating about wether you could possibly do a SOG or SCROG outdoors, and Yes you can, and it could be the most practical, awesome idea ever with your set up in that courtyard. You could do(say a 10x10ft) square piece of chain-link fencing across horizontally connected to steel fence posts in the spring time after its all cleaned up. I'm in the process of doing a renovation on my backyard here in Cali already this time of year already planning for Spring. But yeah, a HUGE SCROG would be so awesome for your area.

yea ill be taking anything i read about that kind of stuff from now on with a grain of salt. Yea i will def be getting some fem seeds of a couple strains to check out. hopefully i will get a male, i was planning on if i did to take the male inside and then when its pollen is ready i was gonna take it and just spread some on like 1 branch of each female so i can get some seeds for next grow and save a couple hundred bucks. Do you think there will be any chance of pollen spreading from the one branch i put it on to others?

This sounds like an awesome idea, i think im going to try it out. how many plants do you usually use is a scrog grow? Is there a certain number per square ft or just however many i can fit in the area? Lol i live in so cal and am also getting ready this early, just too impatient haha

Really good Question Darkdrae!

The first time I did it I was careless everything went to seed but it was my first grow and it was a practice with bag seeds gorilla grow. The next time I planned it out in my head. I put the male at a completely different location. I collected my pollen in a glass jar (you really don't need much) I waited for my girl to be in full flower around 4 weeks in I cling wrapped all the branched except the lowest 2 on one plant. Then I made sure the wind was at a minimum and applied it to the buds still exposed. I waited 24 hours before removing the cling wrap and I was sweet.

The plant still used a lot of energy producing the seeds in the bottom branches, I would even go as far as to say the rest of the plant didn't yield as well as the rest. In future I will be cloning to do this process in a different location. 2 males and 2 females just in case! If you don't want to go to as much effort as me I would just concentrate on one plant going to seed rather than branches from each.

Hope that helps Mate I still only have a few grows under my belt but I am meticulous and gather advise in the right places.

Great idea with the wrapping before applying it. But hmm if it effects the rest of the plants yield by doing it, maybe it would be better to just bring a male and female both inside and let them go, wouldn't want all the plants to suffer a yield loss when only 1 can haha.

Breeding marijuana is possible to select cuttings from plants that grow, flower, and mature faster. Some plants will naturally be better than others in this regard, and it is easy to select not only the most potent plants to clone or breed, but the fastest growing/flowering plants as well. Find your fastest growth plant, and breed it with your "best high" male for fast flowering, potent strains. Clone your fastest, best high plant for the quickest monocrop garden possible. Over time, it will save you a lot of waiting around for your plants to mature.

When a male is starting to flower (2-4 weeks before the females) it should be removed from the females so it does not pollinate them. It is taken to a separate area. Any place that gets just a few hours of light per day will be adequate, including close to a window in a separate room in the house. Put newspaper or glass under it to catch the pollen as the flowers drop it.

Keep a male alive indefinitely by bending the top severely and putting it in mild shock that delays it is maturity. Or take the tops as they mature and put the branches in water, over a piece of plate glass. Shake the branches every morning to release pollen onto the glass and then scrap it with a razor blade to collect it. A male pruned in this fashion stays alive indefinately and will continue to produce flowers if it gets suitable dark periods. This is much better than putting pollen in the freezer! Fresh pollen is always best.

When breeding marijuana save pollen in an air tight bag in the freezer. It will be good for about a month. It may be several more weeks before the females are ready to pollinate. Put a paper towel in the bag with it to act as a desecant.

A plant is ready to pollinate 2 weeks after the clusters of female flowers first appear. If you pollinate too early, it may not work. Wait until the female flowers are well established, but still all while hairs are showing.

Turn off all fans. Use a paper bag to pollinate a branch of a female plant. Use different pollen from two males on separate branches. Wrap the bag around the branch and seal it at the opening to the branch. Shake the branch vigorously. Wet the paper bag after a few minutes with a sprayer and then carefully remove it. Large plastic zip-lock bags also. Slip the bag over the male branch and shake the pollen loose. Carefully remove the bad and zip it up. It should be very dusty with pollen. To pollinate, place it over a single branch of the female, zipping it up sideways around the stem so no pollen leaks out. Shake the bag and the stem at the same time. Allow to settle for an hour or two and shake it again. Remove it a few hours later. Your branch is now well pollinated and should show signs of visible seed production in 2 weeks, with ripe seeds splitting the calyxes by 3-6 weeks. One pollinated branch can create hundreds of seeds, so it should not be necessary to pollinate more than one or two branches in many cases.

When crossing two different varieties, a third variety of plant will be created. If you know what characteristics your looking for in a new strain, you will need several plants to choose from in order to have the best chance of finding all the qualities desired. Sometimes, if the two plants bred had dominant genes for certain characteristics, it will be impossible to get the plant you want from one single cross. In this case, it is necessary to interbreed two plants from the same batch of resultant seeds from the initial cross. In this fashion, recesive genes will become available, and the plant character you desire may only be possible in this manner.

Usually breeding marijuana, it is desirable only to cross two strains that are very different. In this manner, one usually arrives at what is refered to as "hybrid vigor". In other words, often the best strains are created by taking two very different strains and mating them. Less robust plants may be the result of interbreeding, since it opens up recesive gene traits that may lead to reduced potency.

Hybrid offspring will all be very different from each other. Each plant grown from the same batch of seeds collected from the same plant, will be different. It is then necessary to try each plant separately and decide it is individual merits for yourself. If you find one that seems to be head and shoulders above the rest in terms of early flowering, high yield and get buzz, that is the plant to clone and continue breeding.

i only use clones...well,now i do...ask around and im sure you can find a trust worthy dispensary to get them...

using clones skips a lot of work
you wont have to sex your plants...
wont have to baby them as seedlings...
you can grow more strains....
try blue dream if you can find it...
it's simple to grow...and has huge yields...
