Man that Indagro par420 light would work so well in my closet. Hahaha. I could even do all three T5 units as sidelight in addition to it... holy moly, that would be crazy. Serious overkill on lighting at that point, I'd imagine... but just imagining all the overhead space to play with and having the light way up out of the way... it's so tempting. I could get a perpetual going under that so much easier with the wider head space.

I probably wouldn't bother keeping T5's for sidelights really, just being ridiculous at that point, lol. I'd pull both small T5's and make a veg. closet with 'em... ditch the big T5 all together...

I think I could work with that in my given space so well... I could get a lot more foot print... something like 5x3 with extra light spilling off the walls due to the prescribed 5x5 footprint of the thing. I can't maximize the 5x5 potential in there, but I imagine it would be even brighter in a 5x3 setup with the walls so close, angled, and covered in reflective mylar. And since it's a 10 year product, I look forward to moving out of the closet later on when I can dedicate a room, then I can maximize it's 5x5 footprint as well.

I could literally hang the mofo off the bottom of my carbon scrubber. Talk about good light ventilation.

I might have to go for it when tax season arrives.

And, finally, if I am still here come summer, I am going to need a cooler-running solution, or an A/C in the window... and with the extremely-limited electricity available on my single circuit in this room, there's pretty much no way I could run an A/C as is. IG will pull a lot less wattage than my 3 T5's, and I'll need every drop I can get... might end up having to run an extension cord from another circuit when push comes to shove... which will be a huge pain in the ass (I have to go 2 floors down to get another circuit on this end of the house... and to get through the floors I'll have to snake through narrow spaces, so I'll have to take the head off the extension cord and rewire it on the other side... crazy, but not impossible.)

What would be perfect would be if we succeeded in our relocation plans so I can comfortably run A/C AND I got an indagro... lol.

Edit: Scouring results from IG grows and it seems like I might be overzealous... will keep researching them for now and consider it... but if I can get into a new house with a solid electrical supply I might finally give HID a go instead. We'll see.

Gettin' the itch again, lol. I'm just bored and running out so I'm thinking ahead even farther... and then I thought, why think ahead? LOL. So I think I'm going to build a "middle shelf table" for my grow tent and subdivide it into two scrogs stacked on top of each other. Then change the 16-bulb setup to 8-bulb overhead only, and do a third scrog there.

So it would be a 4x3 scrog with the 8 bulbs and two 4x2 scrogs with 4-bulbs each.

I'm curious as to whether the larger footprint resulting would work to give me a bigger, better harvest... I can use the same netting for this idea too, and the fiberglass rods for support, so it's not a wasted investment in that sense at least.

Dome scrogs end up having something like 4x1, 4x2, and 4x1 footprints directly exposed to lighting... and the 1 isn't really 1, it's a 12" curve, so both the sides and the top lose a portion of their foot print there.

Is it just me, or is it a no brainer to think that if I can maximize the footprint under these lights in this way I'd get better yields than the planned dome would have? I know everyone was itching to see that unusual scrog in action, but I'd rather yield well than innovate right now. :P

So here's the thinking... the question is, what is best for each 4-bulb 48" section? 4x1 (4 sq ft) or 4x2? The fixtures read about 13" each, so obviously the bulbs are 1 foot... and in that sense, to get as close to the fixture as possible, it would be better to work with a 1 foot dimension... but since it's all curves, the buds end up a little farther from the light anyway... so even though the scrog would be 4x2 in the tent, I feel like it would still be a better-yielding option. I could make a point to pull it in to 4x1.5 even. Better air flow that way anyway. That might be a good compromise. Still maximizes direct lighting with even, flat canopy... but doesn't require such a wide angle that it's diminishing much for the buds directly under.

If I ignore the curve and think of it in terms of flat design, I figure each screen can support roughly 4x2 as is... so I'd be going from 16 sq. ft of surface area to... 4x3 =12, + 4x1.5=6, + 4x1.5=6 ... so that's 24 sq. ft. And I could go up to 4x2 so that would be 28.

...

Obviously 16 sq ft would fit perfectly under 16 bulbs with the lights RIGHT on the plants, but I've seen people grow really big buds at much wider angles, so I'm not convinced I need to be right up on the plants anyway... so maybe I could get more out of 24-28 sq. ft of scrog screen with the same lights.

--

We'll see how innovative I get in the next few weeks. I might not find the gumption to build the divider table for the tent, heh.

Then again, I guess I could use the table and the tent to dry my buds and get started on the scrog table in the closet while that's doing, heh.

Hm. It would certainly be easier to train and access everything if I spread things out. This will take some consideration...

damn you got it dont change anything these are sweet as hell!!
Thanks man, yeah, they're comin'... I am going to add microblast and meta-k to their feed next time... which, if they're absorbing properly, should help smooth out any possible micronutrient issues and give a K boost... overall they're doing pretty well, though they're definitely not 100% but I shouldn't lose the crop or anything. Thing is, that's like 1000w of light in there, so they should really be packing it on if I'm going to see a reasonable yield for the amount of energy spent... we'll see, maybe they will still fatten up a bit... or maybe they're more dense than what i was getting before... I won't judge til harvest and weigh in, but if I recall my previous scrog attempt with 10 bulbs, I'm a little worried, haha. Oh well... I can't even compare them really because I never weighed the previous crop... dunno why, heh. It just sort of slipped my mind at first, and then I had been partaking of it and didn't want innaccurate figures anyway. I pulled 10 oz (280g) my first attempt, off 8 bulbs (432w) and 7 plants. If I had to guess on the second one, I would peg it around 12-13 oz. off 3 plants scrogged, but with 10 bulbs (540w). It really could have been more though. I have no idea why I didn't weigh it...

Anyway. so 280g/432w, and maybe 336g/540w... that's .64g per watt the first time, .62 the second... acceptable but not wonderful results. I've been learning as I go though and made a lot of mistakes first couple crops... unfortunately I made a good share of them this time too, lol. So I might not be breaking any records this time 'round... not sure I'm utilizing the wattage most effectively... I have high hopes for the rasp. cough operation... this one I just hope I pull enough to get me thru the rasp. cough op, lol. I'm not picky, just want bud... but honestly, would rather stockpile as much as possible because I keep putting myself in situations where I run out, heh.

two weeks til the start of the harvest window for both Jackberry and Herijuana. Right around the 30th hopefully, but we'll see what happens, naturally...

Took a handful of extra clones, bigger than the last ones. Just in case the first ones really were too small. They were taken late but hopefully can still survive.

The jackberry smells berry-tastic. The kolossus has extra-long gnarly hairs compared to the other strains. I thought that was kind of neat. Maybe a sign that they will plump up more, lol. I don't like the kolossus smell much though, at least hwere it is right now. It's not BAD, just doesn't grab me as something great either.

I haven't decided yet really... I'd rather not do the tent because the noise is louder when the exhaust is running in the room with me... I've isolated the noise from the closet pretty well, would be a shame to introduce more noise now... on the other hand, I'm not entirely sure I have enough horizontal space to give the screen breathing room on the sides. I wan to make sure there's a good 5" clearance on each side so that I can get colas growing out the sides... I feel like, IF I can get the screens positioned correctly, it should be no sweat to fill the side screens and the top screens with the four plants...

Most of the seedlings have shed their caps... I helped with a few... one still on. One's already stretched up ahead of the others... i rearranged the lights as best I could do get more direct light to them all.

I am still brainstorming for other options... I mean, I could set up the tent in our basement. It's a little cool during this season down there but with the lights and weak ventilation it might work fine. Only catch there is.. (there is always a catch with this fuckin hose) the ceilings are like barely 5'10" and the tent is 6'7" or something. LOLOLOL. So to use that in the basement I'd have to flip it on it's side... then it's about 54" tall and 6'7" wide... unfortunately, there's no way to utilize the extra width, (can't fit two 4' panels side by side) and the loss of overhead space means I probably can't do two chambers stacked like i wanted either down there.

Sweeeeet... I can't tell you how thrilled I'd be to just have a house where I can do work like that, haha. I'd be building up individual rooms and havin' a ball...

Have fun, haha. I'd be growing in a tent up in a bedroom while I'm working, but that's just me ;)

Milking my vape pen cartridges for all their worth, lol. I'm down to the last of the last working one. I still have one cartridge that doesn't work, full of oil! I don't know how I'm gonna get it out. On one end there's a very small hole and a little plug... I can pull that and could probably get some out with a pin or something, but would rather not have to pull it out drop by drop... I was thinking I could heat it and then maybe it will dribble out, but it's not going to really roar out like I want even if it's warm. Maybe I could puncture the tube near the top to let air in and then it'd pour out the bottom. Definitely needs to be nice and warm for that... and I need a nice little glass dish to catch it in...

Picturing an iso rinse of all the vaporizer pieces... a FAST iso rinse, since a lot of it is plastic. The oil should come off quickly, so I'll do like 20 seconds shaking vigorously then strain...

I still can't, for the life of me, figure out how to get a good clean scrape up of any kind of extraction, lol.

I've got a pretty big mirror that would make a great surface to scrape off of, if only I could figure out a way to create a "removable wall" (would have to be heavy, or clamped on) within which I could pour a liquid and let it dry straight down to the mirror... then pull the wall piece off and be left with a perfectly flat surface to scrape... urrrrgh... wish I could figure out a solution along these lines. I keep trying to dry out extractions in pyrex dishes and then cursing the stars as I try to get the shit scraped off the curved surfaces... even the flat surfaces aren't that flat in pyrex dishes...

Use a shallow side pyrex. They make them cuz I have one lol. I use my pryrex all the time to do my iso's and have never had a problem scraping it off the shallow slanted sides.

Ever tried parchment paper? I'm reading about people using parchment paper to line a dish before blowing BHO... you can apparently blow right onto the parchment paper, let it evap off, and then freeze it, and it peels right off the paper. I'm thinking this might be the way, I could skip scraping all together..

Give it a try bro, I've heard about it but idk for sure. I'm not big into BHO. I'm always making oils, butters, and bubble hash.

Yeah I jut figure if it's good for bho it'd be good for an iso extract too... though you do end up with a different texture from iso... we'll see. I'll give it a go. Might end up waiting though, I don't really have anywhere to evaporate ISO during the cold months. Takes forever out on the porch in the cold weather.

Got yourself an electric skillet? That's how I do mine in the winter

Get you an electric skillet fill it with 1-2" of water, set your pyrex dish in and keep it on low and let it slowly bubble. It works like a charm and no open flame so I've never had a prob. Just keep temps low and you can make ISO all year round ;)

Don't have an electric skillet... have an electric stove so I could do it on there in theory, just didn't want to fill the house with iso fumes, heh. I had an electric burner in my camper I should have brought up with me when we moved here... could use that on the porch where I can let it fume out the windows easily...

Shit... one of my seedlings might die. I noticed the "head" was brown where the seed shell came off, where there should have been new leaves, so I picked at it thinking it was membrane between the seed wall and the plant left on... but when I touched it, shit fell right off. This was one where the seed shell didn't come off on it's own and I ended up having to pull it off yesterday. This plant is now left with stem and one cotyledon, the other sprouting leaves seem to have died while stuck under the shell. Not sure but thinking it's fucked... at least it still has that one cotyledon to get going on... not sure if that will save it though. Might have lost her. We'll see.
