I got some problems to say the least. Well my plants have thrips i doing cupboard grow out the way indoors!! Concluded must of been in soil but my issue is i bought a product called Protector witch says on bottle is 0.2 g/l pyrethrins so used it neat as instructions say after light cycle so cant of been burn of lamp where perfectly dry next day but my plants have suffered. I have lost some lower foliage next after 24hrs of light and other leaves curling a little on edges. 48hrs later i have got dead leaves on lower of plant, upper leaves curled more on edges and new foliage looks to be yellowing and not healthy. Any ideas or help??

I read and thought pyrethrins where safe sprayed on and covering well and i didnt do it with light on and left to dry naturally in well vented grow cupbaord. I did also spray plants again 24hrs after application but only with clean water again to try and help them wash them down but only after light on cycle.

Nope, pyrethrin will cause adverse reactions with your plants - depending on how much you spray and the plant itself... Just did mine... Lost some leaves, plant's got a little bit of shock but seems like they bouncing back now... Good luck.

I am still worried even if they bounce back, as with thrip i have read its best to reapply after 6 days?? If they get hit as badly again it put me back weeks to if my plants even survive. I need to beat them this time as second attack in this grow i have had so my plants have suffered from these little buggers lots already dont want them to reappear in budding light cycle.

In my experience you can knock the thrips down with pyrethrins but if you want to really get rid of them spray with pyethrins then two days later hit em neem oil then agin with neem oil thre days after that and you should get all of thrips which can be hard to know cause they are so small. so you gotta stay on it with more than one insectacide.

Try the neem oil like echlectica says... You can also try to spray down with a mild soap solution as well. I have always seem to get them under check - only time I find it hard or near imposible is when I over extend myself on my number of plants.

The best product for extermination of thrips IMO is SPINOSAD, you can get this on eBay under many brand names.

CONSERVE NATURALYTE

MONTERAY GARDEN INSECT SPRAY

2weeks no more thrips.

Spray plants and drench the medium every 5 days. Dilute as instructed.

It's an OMRI listed product.

Spinosad is the answer for thrips. Not a kill-on-contact, but like he said, couple weeks, no more thrips. Harmless to you and your plants

mb a product called safer soap. potassium salts of fatty acids. pretty benign stuff. even dish soap mixed with alcohol. bugs breathe through their skin. clog it up and most will die off. you could get an some rubbing alcohol and pour some onto a rag. gently rub down the plant. you'll kill off most insects. i think before applying anything new it's always best to test at a lower rate and on a small part of the plant first to avoid problems like what you're describing. and never apply most insecticides in sunlight. especially oil based products. they burn. wait till it's not so bright. hope your plants recover. their pretty hardy so i think you'll be alright.

I do hope they recover, and yes would of loved to use spinosad but its a bit harder to find in the uk read its very good. I know companys in states would deliver and have now ordered for futue but with 4 weeks delivery think my plants would of been completetly eaten by these little buggers.
