Corps made lotsa money off him... he raised a ton of cash for good causes... he lied... waiting 8 years to fess up..

I can point out more popular celebs Politicians who cheated and lied about it that raised less eyebrows and media coverage...

Not saying Lance is not an idiot... he lied and accused and sued others over it..

idk. i just feel athletes should be held to a higher standard. after all, kids see them as role models. politics is inherently corrupt. no kid wants to be a politician.

I think that we as spectators push athletes in the direction of enhancements. We always want bigger, faster, stronger. In addition, competitive sports tend to attract alphas with narcissistic tendencies. Those with less than stellar morals, especially those who think that their money will help them "beat the game" tend to fall into the trap of doping.

That said, it takes a real asshole to brag about how wonderful he is, defending his reputation with threats, accusations, and lies. The confession is nothing more than an self-centered narcissist protecting what he loves from further damage by accusation and denials. He's trying to redeem his name.

Too late. Lance Armstrong: You were a douchebag when you were in the tour-de-france and would high-altitude train in the Taos area, and you are a douchebag now.

Edit: I forgot to mention. Athletes as "heroes" is relatively new. Historically, the competitors were warriors, not specially trained competitors, pedal pushers or ball fondlers like modern fighting, biking, and most other sports (basketball, football, futball, rugby, basketball, etc.) Arena "athletes" were only athletes until they died. They were there either as a slave or as a person convicted of a crime.

i'm with you gioua .. i got into this just the other day and was going to start a thread about it..

i, for on, could give a hairy rats ass if athletes use drugs.. who cares? i mean really, at the end of the day, they're grown ass men running around on a field, riding a bike, or throwing a ball around, who cares if these people use drugs for enhancement? not i said the fly.. let them all do it, in fact, let's make it mandatory, that way they can't say anyone's got an unfair advantage.. why on earth would i give a hairy rats ass how fast someone can run down a field, ride a bike, throw a ball, w/e... it's kids games played by adults..
it's nothing more then entertainment.. i like the rolling stones, they use drugs, they also entertain me.. should they also stop using drugs in an attempt to entertain me?? i hope not..

what I can't stand is these athletes who are doing PEDs and denying that they do em. it's only obvious they do PEDs. then all the people who don't know shit jump on the bandwagon and start defending these doped up athletes saying they are drug free when they don't even know the damn guy personally.

they should just let the athletes be athletes and fuck drug testing. if they do em, they do em. if they don't, they don't. if your trying to be the best at what you do, you will do just about anything to get there. including PEDs.

They deny because the international governing/enforcing body WADA has adopted draconian testing, enforcement and punishment policies. There is no graded, tolerable consequence to testing positive. They've set themselves up as the bad Guys and folks like Lance who got away with it as antiheroes. Jmo. cn

Let's clear this up, how was he doping exactly? I thought they were giving themselves a blood transfusion with an extra pint of their own blood so they had extra red blood cells on race day.

To be honest, I haven't read anything about it myself, and am only parroting wha I've been told.

Also, don't you think all the other riders who were considered competitors for the win were probably doing the same thing as well? I mean, maybe lance was the most scrutinized, but I find it hard to believe he and his team were the only ones.

Bike racing has a history of doping anyway, doesn't it?

Would your opinion change if you had a son that was an allstar player through high school and maybe college, and then unable to land on any roster because of all the incredible hulks? I agree that it is entertainment, but for some athletes, sports it is their only way out. Why should they be forced to use drugs to compete?

Music is not a good comparison. I can make 500 cd's of music for $100 and pass them out and garner an audience if it is decent music. I can't make a baseball or football team without a few hundred million dollars.

roids ruined athleticism in the same way auto-tune/overproduction ruins voices and music industry.

some people like auto-tune, some people like watching roided athletes crash into eachother and compete.

I've been telling people for years lance armstrong was on the juice - people wouldn't believe me. But here's the deal: athletes use drugs... Shocking isn't it? Did you know that many of the US Armed Forces Special Forces, Rangers, SEALS, etc, use steroids too? Did you know that military pilots use methamphetamines to fly?

Drugs are a way of life - get use to it.
