Changing veg light cycle

I have my lights on 24/0 in my veg room at the moment. I wanted to give my girls and lights/ballast a rest. I was thinking about dropping the time to 18/6 until the guy at the hydro store told me it could somewhat shock the plants. Could I gradually drop it a hour each night until I reach 18/6 or could I just go with 20/4 right off the bat and keep that schedule for the rest of veg? Any thoughts and input would be greatly appreciated, thanks- Ds

id say an hr a nit till you hit 18/6 is ur best bet and ull save coin on ur bill. what r u running for veg (lights)

I don't think it will really shock them... You could even drop 2 hours a night and be safe, I would just do it right away....saves power too

I too have been on 24 strait since seed 4 weeks, im gonna go 20/4 for 2weeks, then drop to 18/6 for 2weeks, then start flowering

I had mine on 24/0 for the first 2 weeks, then went straight to 18/6, and she loved it.

I'm running 4ft 4bulb h/o T5s. I don't think they run up the electric bill that much. Either way it would be good to give them some rest, I just have a good feeling that my girls would react well to some darkness in veg.

Nice that might be what I'll do though I have to transplant tomorrow into a 1 gal container, perhaps I should give them 24/0 for another week.

Initially I ran my little 2' 4 light T5 for 24 hours to keep the seedlings warm. As soon as I took the dome off I dropped the light to 18/6. They look just fine and are growing fast. They turned 1 week old today.

The only thing that may shock them is the drop in temps if your ambient temps are too low.

I keep the lights on 24/7 for veg... the guy at your local hydro store is wrong. it will not shock your plants.. and Ive seen side by side grow with the exact same clones and the plants and the 24/7 was shorter and had tons of grow tips while the 18/6 what stretched out more and def not as many grow tips..

24/7 veg IMO produces a lot bushier plants. Ive been doing 24/7 veg for a while a now and wouldnt go back. Might cost ya more in leccy, but you will reap the benefits come harvest...

Lights off at 5am, back on at 11 am.

What i really need is lights off at 11pm and on at 5am .

That way i can keep track of lighting. Thus I'm wondering if putting them in 24 continuous light would be alright .

They are only like 1 month old. Just really starting to veg.

Just flip your light cycle to whatever works for you. It's not going to hurt them. At least not in veg. and not for 1 day
