Brave new world - DWC when it's -50 outside

I'm going to be setting up a new grow, now that we've made it to Fairbanks. I just wanted to say hi.

My plan is to use Advanced Nutrients' Sensi Grow and Sensi Bloom in 5-gallon DWC bubble buckets. As I'm new to AN, any advice is welcomed.

AN ph perfect is great for newbies. The product are very controlled and exact from batch to batch but you need a ppm reader if you really want to experiment. Once you have found the brew that works best for you, keep a record of it and you can make it again and again. If this is your first go with AN I would say use just the three part at first this gives you a base for the next round where you can add an additive and you have something to compare to.

AN is great for any level grower, not just newbies or dummies. The AN haters can sit on it and suck. I live in AK. I'm fairly new to DWC. I suggest using the Sensi Series. Both Grow and Bloom. I also highly recommend the AN VooDoo Juice and B52. In fact I almost insist. Buy them and use according to the directions on the side panel.

Meh, I'm no hater dude and by no means do I think AN is for dummies. As I said it's a good choice when starting out because it is easy to use, once you have a base then you can experiment and again, that's not for dummies either. It's just an easy nute system to use, imo.

Q: Is B-52 similar to Botanicare's Liquid Karma? (I had trouble with LK in bubble buckets. It coated and harmed roots.)
Q: I've seen a recommendation for using Bud Candy, VooDoo Juice, and Sensi Bloom together. What do you think?

I use all the items you list including Bud Candy. I recommend them all with the exception of Bud Dandy due to its cost (I know - VooDoo is ridiculous) since I am theorizing molasses would do the same trick. I would not hesitate to use molasses if an experience hydro grower (not me) said it flew. Krondizzel is one who lives here. What do you think, Robfather? Have you used molasses in hydro? Or know anything about it?

From what I know, straight molasses doesn't work in hydro. It needs bacteria to break it down into a useable form. That being said, AN has a product called Carbload that contains molasses as well as necessary additives to break it down. Also Botanicare has the Sweet product. I've never used it but I heard it works. Do not use straight molasses though, it will mess your shit up. Putting that kind of stuff into a dwc type system always has the potential to go bad. Yes you could do it. But keep a very close eye on your roots after you introduce the molasses to your system. You'd be better off buying a sweetener product designed for hydro use botanicare sweet, bud candy, etc

Edit: Here, this might help.. https://www.rollitup.org/harvesting-curing/115042-molasses-no-molasses-you-tell.html

for sugars I like general hydroponics brand. molasses is just one part I like the hops and a more complete product that GH makes watch out they have three and two of them add flavor. and its thin enough to use in Airoponics

Please have a grow journal, id love to see how you pull off a winter grow outside. I am from the area you are talking about and the only thing ive ever seen was a greenhouse with a wood stove but more in the spring. We only have like 6 hours of daylight right now so i dont see how it would be useful. Best of luck though

I think it would be silly to do DWC outside. If you can grow outside, dig a huge hole and grow in some organic soil.

I've got a host of different things going right now. A white widow I've had for about 4 years, some deisel, a bunch of bubba kush, I've also got one I'm calling NY strawberry, a critical jack, a couple C99, and a few WW that came from beans I found in my WW over the years. Should be pretty exciting couple months!

That all sounds amazing. Ive always wanted to try C99. That question was aimed at DrRabbit since we live in the same area Im just curious. I met a guy at the local hydro store and we got to talking about strains and he said he was growing White Widow and Northern Lights but they were the same ones hes had since the 80s i think he said. Anyways I told him I was on RIU and to look me up and was hoping maybe its you

Well, no, I'm a different person, toooom. Starting off with some OG Kush seeds. My plan is to find the best in particular batch of seeds, and clone, clone, clone. Just got my beans, and am getting my Sun Hut set up. My plan is to post info here and on National Green Friends as I get things up and rolling.

Sorry for thread confusion. we've covered a lot of ground - molasses in DWC to sub-zero outdoor grows! :blsmoke:

ive used the liquid karma instead of b52 due to price. ive substituted a few botanicare things in stead of straight AN line due to price. i had great results. but i also had problems but that was a given had never done it before. i would use bigger net pots so roots dont get chopped if your using chem and organics watch out for root rot and disease. you may have to use h2o2 from time to time and reapply the bennies. its a very time consuming thing esp when i bought the nutes right b4 my shop had ph pefect, jeez the ph did crazy crap. so you have to be on top of things.

Currently i am using super soil that i mi
