why 5000k is better.

yes that seems like a great mix, i would go x6 2700k, x6 5000k and x2 6500k or 5/5/4 both would still be very red dominant.
.......my bad (stoned again) screwed up my question to you, I have only 12 sockets right now, hoping to get 2 more to make 14.

I only have four 5000K bulbs, so I might buy a few more but for the short term I'm thinking x6-2700k and x4-5000k and 2x-6500k...thoughts?

you are reading the chart nm numbers right? there is just as much light in the 600-700nm range in the 5000k as the 3000k more of it leaning towards 630 and 660, not to mention the addition of blue.

all three tubes have about the same size spikes at 560 and 590nm?

sooo yeah, thats what im saying.

Whats your thoughts on a CMH?

Beech
good bulb, but not quite as effcient as hps or mh for intensity reasons, but for replicating the sun and smaller grows its one of the best, but honestly i think it is subpar to some of the MH bulbs available. check into some 4000k and 3000k bulbs i think you will be pleasantly surprised, especially for their given light output and intensity just gives them that one up on the CMH, but if i was doing a single source light grow in something like a 3x3 or smaller a 400w CMH would be ideal.

Wait, so are we saying that utilizing the 5000k cfls is more efficient over the entire grow? as opposed to mixing half 6500k and 5000k, for the veg and mixing half 2700k and 5000k for the flowering?

actually 5000k and 3500k for flowering would be most efficient. but yes what you are saying is correct.(unless your using specialty red enhanced bulbs such as redsun, colormax ect.)
