Will This Work?

treat your weed like a cactus
water once.. when its dry wtaer again
i water every 3 days
Even in such big pots of soil? How much water is enough for such a big pot? I keep hearing how frequent you should water... but never how MUCH water is needed. A splash? A cup? A jug? Should I wet the leaves? Should I put the water at the base of the plant? Or everywhere?

I've consistently flushed my plants every watering. And i dont even water every 3 days. Usually i'll water seedlings ever 3-5 days, closer to 5, then once veg starts, the flushes last for a while. During Veg, i dont water but maybe once ever 6-9 days. I usually watch closely for the first sign of drooping, then pouring at least 1 - 1.5 x size of container of water on them. So for regular vegging, I use 3 gals of water on a 3 gal plant, every 6-9 days.

Check my journal for results.

So I should pour a full gallon of water on them every time I give them water? I've only been giving them each like... a 5th of a gallon of water when I give them water. And only give them water every 5 days or so? And watch for the leaves to droop? My leaves are drooping kind of right now...

Also how important are nutrients? And what kind should I buy? Name a brand and a type that that brand makes.

I'm looking at buying FoxFarm liquid nutrient for soil.... it comes with 3 different bottles for different stages... I'll just start later. It's $50 bucks for 3 32ounce bottles. Thinking of pulling the trigger.... should I? Or another one thats cheaper / better?

Frick i just answered this question last night lol, i cant remember where though lol.
Your plant is one inch tall and your pouring a gallon of water in there? Think about how long it would take for your plants to drink a gallon of water.
When i plant seeds i mix my dirt in a biiiig bowl with just enought water to get it nice and wet but not soaked, just past moist i guess. Then i plant my seeds twice as deep as they are wide and spray down the surface of the dirt with water. You dont have to water until the container feels light when you try and pick it up. Weight of the container is the best trick to know when to water. Light and hollow means water.
Next, how much water? I have a syringe that i use to water. This pea plant was germinated and four days later the rapid rooter plug was planted in moistened soil. Then it went 5-6 days without water. I finally watered with 20 mls from the syringe. Its been about three days since then and i finally watered it with about 50 mls today. Should be another three days till i water again. Your probably drowning them. They actually grow the most right before the soil drys out i find.
Nutrient, yes they are very important but not as much as some make them out to be. Get any two part or three part base line you want. Id go synthetic for your first grow and any reputable brand will work. Dyna grow, General Hydroponics, and Advanced Nutrients all make 2-3 part base systems that work well and are easy to use. Also, 100% get yourself a cheap ppm meter, i got the blue hanna from amazon for 20 ish bucks. If you dont get a ppm youll be sorry. The grow side of the nutes will have high N values and the bloom side will have higher P and K.
i bet your wishin that youd a bought a 4-600 watt hps at the end of this grow but you can always use those cfls for veg when you upgrade. :) good luck

Just bought a case of "general organics grow box" and a ph tester kit. I just switched from giving my 3 plants in their 8 quart containers only .3 of a liter... to 1 full gallon per plant like the hydroponics guy told me. Waited until water poured out the bottom and it took a little under 1 gallon per plant. Put in a small amount of some grow nute, now tomorrow it will grow 6 feet right? lol.

So we have arrived at day 3... I'm not sure if the soil needs more water... but I'm going to add some later tonight anyways after I get some advice. Should I just keep using these nutrients on every feed? Or should I do water only, then nutrients the next time? I was thinking just keep giving it nutrients until I see yellowing around the edges of leaves? Or no?

Thoughts?

Also plants are looking excellent! I'll post a pic of my favorite one here in a second. They DOUBLED in size the first night after being given nutrients. And they keep doubling in size it seems.

Lets start with my setup. Its probably the most economical build possible.... and I know its nothing special, feel free to give me any advice or tips you have.
I've got 3 plants, the center one with 1 300 watt bulb and 1 150 watt bulb, the other 2 with 2 150 watt bulbs. I have a small fan behind them that just blows naturally at nothing, and theres no venting capabilities... not really sure how to do that without cutting a hole in the door and I don't want to do that. I figured air circulation would be better than nothing. I plan on keeping them all in these 3 pots until harvest, and I think they are big enough. I'm not sure at what point I'm going to start flowering, but I'll keep this forum posted and I'm sure I'll get good advice on that.

Now... on to my babies. I don't know whos female yet... and I'm not really sure how I plan to figure that out exactly. I'm thinking of cutting a stalk off and replanting it... and just taking it out of the veg room every 12 hours and putting it somewhere dark by itself. Or I may just flower all 3 at once, and try to remove the male when I find it. I'm not sure how quickly the male releases the pollen.

This first picture is not the biggest of the 3 plants... but its my favorite. It is PERFECTLY symmetrical and I love her. She is the center pot under the most amount of wattage, curious that she is the smallest.

This one is the biggest of the 3, shes on the right, growing like mad ever since day 1. Already starting its second flower.

I plan on buying a few more cfls.... maybe 4 or 5 more. I wish I had the money for a good light but I just don't. I don't plan on selling, so there's no money to be made here. Any recommendations on cheap light kits that are effective would be great. The cheapest I've seen was a 400 HPS for $120. And I hear I can use JUST that by itself to get great results in a small closet. Should I just buy more CFLs though?

Also... how do my babies look? I know they are healthy, but aren't they gorgeous? I can't wait for the "weed" smell. They just smell like the nutrients I fed them lol.

I haven't grown out any males, but from reading i believe you'd have more than enough time to pull them if you flowered them all at once, as long as your checking them everyday. The signs for male / female determination should arrive soon enough before the would be pollen sacks start bursting.

As far as the weed smell, your prolly a decent way off. I'm almost 4 weeks into flower and they're just now starting to get the funk smell. Once yours get larger in Veg, and you get a sturdy stalk, you could rub your fingers up and down then stalk, then smell them to get the weed smell. It keeps me motivated :-P.

Also this box of nutrients has a bunch of different types... any suggestions on what to give them and when? Maybe a diagram showing which to feed when and when to flush?

Just bought 4 more bulbs and put 2 in between the plants on either side. Accidentally dropped a bulb on the left plant and she fell over, I put her back into position as best I can. Added some CAMG + bioroot+ biothrive and gave them all their second dose with some water.

Now have 10 total bulbs.

On day 9 I gave this plants nutrients for the first time. I gave them 10 Mgs of Biothrive.
Then on day 13 I gave them Biothrive, CaMg, and Bioroot.

I only give nutrients when I give water, and I haven't watered inbetween.

Should I be watering without nutrients every other nutrient? Or nutrient every single time? Which nutrients should I use? I have that general organics grow box... so I'm just following the label.

In 3 days should I use the same exact nutrients and water them? Or no nutrients at all? What kind of schedule should I set up?

Day 13 and ur feeding nutes .. I would wait untill ur plants are at least 5 inches tall before u even think about nutes ..u could overdose ur babus quite easily .

How do they look? :) I'm currently starving them for a while. They haven't had water in 4 days now, the soil is slightly damp 2 inches in, I've been told letting them dry out makes them grow faster, so will probably give them some water and biothrive tomorrow.
