Man that sucks! I got a Hanna meter a few weeks ago, I guess the hydro store saw me coming, for $185 I hope it works longer then 1 year.Spend the money and go with Blue Lab! I have gone through a lot of the Hanna meters(pen and the gro check combo) and they suck! They are awesome while they work but they wont last a year.

It is the Hanna hi98129 I The best price I saw online was 145 = tax and shipping. I try to support the local Hydro store if they have what I want and it isn't horribly over priced. I also saw the same meter advertised for $260 at granger!Goddamn man buy that shit off amazon....$185??? Ouch!
Did you replace the probe after it wouldn't hold the calibration? I keep mine wet, rinse it with straight RO water after each use. I have only tested it twice, but I have a bunch of the solution. When your stopped working properly did it go crazy or I guess what I really wan to know is how did you notice? How often do you recommend testing the accuracy?Keep it clean and ALWAYS keep the PH probe wet! They sell a storage solution that you put a couple drops in the cap and it is suppose to make it last longer.I kept it clean and wet but it still stopped holding the calibration. The blue lab PH pen was only like 110$ and the PPM pen was only 95$. In my opinion the blue lab is the best.
The ppm side went out first so I kept it as PH only until I got the Blue Lab. The PPM would just stay on #3 all the time and wouldn't calibrate...When the PH probe went out it would never stay locked on one value it would be all over the place.I thought it was my digital ballast causing it to jump but nope...it was the pen. I would calibrate with 4 and 7 after every cycle. If your not sure get some test strips to check the accuracy every once and a while.Did you replace the probe after it wouldn't hold the calibration?
