Hello RIU! OK, here we go...
Been a reader on RIU for the last two years or so and I'm finally feeling comfortable enough with my knowledge to help and share my own successes and failures. Props to all the growers on here pulling lbs off their plants, you probably won't see that coming from me, but who knows what I'll be doing 10 years from now. I grow for medicinal purposes and because of my conditions sometimes I'm not able to give them 110% of my love. Don't be afraid of a yellow leaf or two as you watch my journal grow. I don't scrog or grow for high yields. My work takes me away from my grow almost every cycle for at least a few weeks, so in the past I have had to keep it easy enough for someone else to take care of while I'm gone. This grow though, you'll be seeing some LST and topping going on, as I'm at a stage where I finally want to get to be a bigger and better gardener!
I germinated 5 Ken's Original GDP and 1 Dinafem Cheese Auto via a damp paper towel method about 6 days ago. 2 days until transplanted, 2 days to pop from the soil, and 2 days growth is what you'll see here. The Cheese is a day or two younger and just now popping the soil and shedding its seed shell. There's one GDP that is a little slower in the back that is just now opening its cotyledons that you can't really see. The goal is to have 3 or 4 vigorous females (GDP seeds are regulars) all together. I am hoping for a nice male to grab pollen from but we'll have to wait and see.
The current set up is approx. a 3'Lx3'Wx7'H grow tent and a 2'Wx4'L4'H tent for drying (I like to cut the whole plant down in 1 piece and hang the entire plant because I live in a very dry climate) which you'll understand why its still up in a minute. Light source is a 600W MH for veg and 600W HPS for flower. The final home for the girls will be in 5 gal pots, all Fox Farm Ocean Forest soil. Total nutrient line up contains Liquid Karma, GH Bio Marine, GH Cal/Mg, Roots Organic Buddha Bloom and AN Big Bud. I've had great results with this mix, I know everyone has a different preference.
Currently still hanging out in the grow tent is a DNA Sharksbreath that has been through hell and back while being plant-sitted, but I managed to revive it to at least get a little bit of a harvest... she'll be ready to cut down any day now, so she's back and fourth between tents until the time comes. The only reason why I can't hate her too much is she turned a beautiful shade of blue and purple recently. I don't expect too much of a yield.
And finally here is a picture of my pride and joy from my last grow, Dinafem's Critical Jack. Still curing in the jar, but final yield slightly over 2 oz. A little less than I would have hoped for but happier as ever to have grown this plant!
So if you're like me and haven't found a good grow journal for GDP on here, pull up a chair and allow me to entertain you. Please feel free to comment, suggest, recommend, say hello, etc. You'll be seeing photo updates regularly and I promise I won't stop 'til its smoked!
