If you had the Opportunity, to Grow for a Friend for his Legal Op would you?

Now I've been presented with a opportunity to do just that. In this situation, it would be friend of only 4 years meet through my wife, which she knew his wife for 7 years. So already that's why I've been hesitant, only friends I trust is the ones I known since jr high, highschool, very small circle. In the time I've known my friend, i learned his life, he has spent time in prison for crimes other then dealing, was part of a gang, has big tattoo of gang on back of head/neck, but now lives a straight life, honest job with family of 4. Now I've known of his Delivery Service for awhile, I supply him monthly with my stuff, and he gives me a good price. Been doing this for awhile, so there is trust built there.

Well here is the Opportunity, he has asked me to grow for him many times, I've always told him I don't have time. After dealing with him for sometime, I think I trust him enough, and I see he does run a legit service. He has a massive area to grow, with a high plant and high pound limit. Paperwork is legit, checked it out myself. He would supply all the equipment, pay electricity, all the start-up money, and the place to grow at. Grow area is .3 miles away from my house. All I do is do what I do best and thats grow. Just check on stuff atleast once a week. Now I haven't told him that I wanted to go ahead with the plan yet, need more details on what cut I'm going to get. 50/50 on each pound seems preferred, would love to work in me getting trimmings.

Now on the other hand, Im young, I have a family, I worked my way up to buy property, I have a very small legal grow that brings in good side money. So I have a good thing going right now, do I want to continue that or continue my small grow and my friend of so many years huge legal grow to make more side money X 10. Basically be his grower for his service.

Question is, what would you do presented with this opportunity, what details would you work out? Cant wait to hear what RIU Community has to say, maybe good info is to come.

Well bro, if its "legal" then I really wouldn't see any issues.
On the other hand though, me personally I wouldn't grow for anyone but myself! But hey, that's me. I don't like to tell anyone about what I have going on behind my closed doors, you know. The less people know, the better off you'll be. Because its hard to say bro about some people now days! Not saying your friend is like that but one can never be to carefull!
Cause what if say he was to get pissed off at you or some shit & blab & tell the law that you have way more then your suppose to be growing, or break into your home,etc'!? That's just me though bro. All kinds of things run through my mind on issues such as this! When it comes to my friends, not 1 of them knows anything about my grows! And when I crop out, & have bud, I will "after dried & cured" of course, take a 8th to quarter & put it in a baggy to make it look as if I bought it off someone, so they won't think its coming from me!! This guy did all of the start up work, is paying for literally everything, and you want to 'check on stuff once a week' for a 50/50 profit split?

You might want to rethink that part.

You can always keep your equipment handy in case your business relationship goes south. Regardless of what happens, maintain your friendship. Remember: this is your wife's best friend's husband. Sometimes family and business dont mix, sometimes it does.

Whatever you agree on, make sure you get it in writing.

Same here, I don't have any issues with it, since it is legal.
But, on that other hand, I've always really only trust myself. Trusting myself has worked out perfect, stayed out of trouble, while making pretty good progression. Yeah, cuz you never know about some people, someone could hate and there goes that run. This is Cali, so it is super easy to get legal. So I would just have in my head that maybe he might break in. But, I have 3 Big Pitbulls, cameras, etc, fenced in area, and neighbors that are in their garage all day everyday, love my area. But, probably sell this house after a couple crop outs with him and then he wouldn't know my new home address. Only one close friend knows about my grow, but he grows too. Yeah, Im the same way, less people know the better, cant get riped off that way. Law isn't a problem, just keep it legit and you have no issues out here. YeaH, i use to be paranoid when I started, but I learned I just have to be extra cautious. If your careful you stay safe.

Now to have a partner your losing out on your safeness you had.

Well he is not doing any start-up work, well if you call the actually delivery service the work, then yes he did that.
I would be doing all the work, I would have to set-up the area he is providing me with, go buy the equipment with his money, set-up the equipment and grow it all. I would probably go there more then once a week, since its so close and we chill at his spot anyway to game. I would think 50/50 is fair, but I see what you mean from his point of view. But, right now he is buying his plates for his service from growers. He would see it as his own personal grow spot to support his own business with his own plates. Since he sees me as a very high commodity, someone that can sustain the number a plates he needs monthly, someone he can trust and wont fuck him over. I think I would be worth that 50/50, but I would go down to 40/60 a pound + trimmings. I'm talking wholesale pound, not his retail pound he sells for.
That is true about my wife's best friend. Business and friendship aren't suppose to mix, but that's all this guy is about is family and business. Funny thing. Thanks for that info, I never thought about getting it in writing. Since this is a legit business, it was just make since to have our agreement in writing. Then if agreement is broken, there are no hard feelings.

Now to trust someone in this type of venture is foreign to me. It seems like just don't do it. I could do the same thing as him and drop money off to get the same legal paperwork as him and start my own business and get a plant limit up there. But, I don't have clientele where I could drop that many plates off monhtly. Probably go to multiple dispensary to drop the off for cheap prices. Seems like way to much footwork. I use to drive 40 mins to drop off my plates at the dispensary, now I drive to my friends house which takes 4 mins. Also, I wouldn't want to grow that many plants at my own spot, even if I was legal. Some cops are dickheads, and they will just see you in court your word vs theirs.

But, what would be your guys cut. 50/50, 40/60, 40/60 + cuttings?
I just grow, start from seed/clone provided by me, he provides everything else.

Is the delivery service legal as well?

From what I gather, I think 25% of retail sales would be a fair commission, with 0 risk, 0 capital, and 0 overhead. If your providing isolated pheno's I'd tax another 5-10%. From what I gather your only providing the skilled labor.

Expect him to expect lots of free bud. I grew for someone else and when I only yielded half as much bud as I predicted he expected a lot of it. One of the rules of growing is not to tell your friends cause they expect discounts or free bud since you get it "so easily".

But if it is legal, and you work out all of the details, and put it in writing, you are simply making a business decision. I cannot stress enough, do not enter into a business arrangement with anyone without something in writing.

Partnerships almost always go south in any business this must be a well reward system. It may last months or years but someone always get lazy or greedy. If you can get in make tons of cash then it would be something to consider. I would sit down with him and talk shop, if his plans and expectations are different or unrealistic be wary.

First off, why would an legal grow need more then one person. Aren't legal grows extremely limited to a certain number of plants, dry material and indoor space limitations? I know it differs by state and even county but from what I've read maximums are not large enough to require a partner. I could be dead wrong, I have no idea how legal works and hope I never have to.

Allright IMHO if u grow he will take care of the rest i would go something like 35 / 65 , if mine would be start up cost , my place ,my equipment and i would pay the bills , u sed that u bring genetics to the table , it's a Cali u talking about , u can get great genetics for the right price , if i would be ur partner and u would sed to me that u want 50/50 i would told u that forget about start up cost but bills let sey after first harvest we splitting on half , all of them legal fees , rental of the property , nutes, electric , all expenses on half , then i would give u 50/50 .
Now my opinion from ur point of view , honestly , i wouldn't do it and here's why.
If i have good thing going on why ruin it , partnerships r in 99.9% always going sideways sooner or later , plus as a small timer u not gonna bring as much heat on u as oppose to big time grower legal or not, u never know what's gonna happen tomorrow and if shit go sideways what kind of guarantee do u have that he won't just throw everything on ur shoulders , let sey that he showing u papers , all looks legit and legal , did u check them ?
if shit he's showing u is somewhat legal , and u guys get rated and it's gonna turns out that u guys have 100 plants over ur limit , u gonna sey , he show me the papers that we staying within plant limit, and he's gonna sey , thats my master grower i have no idea that he went over the limit with a plants, this is only one scenario, and their can be literally hundreds of them , plus u scared of break in's and u wanna change house in a sneaky way , r u listing to urself , brother u have family , it's not just u that u have to think about , why put them thru so much risk , and take my advice , cuz i have a background in other side of the law and when money get involved , A BIG MONEY , i would keep my tab on u without u knowing it , and i know where to find u when i need to ,I did it , others who i know r doing it , u have to stay on a top of ur associates i'm out now i did that back in my home country, i'm not into stuff like that anymore , i live a quiet life with good thing going on lol,
