Cold help purple strains?

From what I understand:

Anthocyanin causes weed to purple. By dropping temperatures you decrease the uptake of Phosphorus, which basically halts the production of chlorophyll. No chlorophyll = no green, which causes the Anthocyanin to show through.

Strains that purple easily have been bred to do so. Their chlorophyll productions drops of earlier than other strains. This is also why purple strains have historically had a weaker THC concentration than other strains...since anthocyanin is like a backup photosynthesis vehicle, not having the the intended vehicle, chlorophyll, present for the entire life cycle of the plant results in lower THC.

this is correct! thanks for the in depth info though, i didnt know that.

whats wrong with your pups eyes? i feel bad for him. im really sorry my grandparents are blind and my parents now need glasses after turning 50. its a very sad and frusturating thing to witness.

luckily for humans, cannabis causes blood to rush to the eye, and where theres vascularity, there is healing. unfortunately my parents wont smoke, and my grandparents are too far gone :-(:-(:-(

i knew a p deficiency would cause wacky colors. i didnt know the science behind it, which he then explained to me.

i have a bad physical body, you have a bad brain and for that i sympathize for you.

you should stop smoking cannabis.

Okay I'm growing a purple strain right now (Sweet Purple Feminized) and what I've read is to get the leaves to turn purple temps need to be cooler, approx 50F (10C) at night, not sure about daytime temps.

FYI, My Sweet Purple is starting it's 6th week of flower, no purple leaves yet. BUT the colour of the leaves is so dark green they look purple if the light hits it just right, if that makes sense to anyone . Daytime temps reach 85F (29C) night time 66F (19C).

I'm thinking this low temperature rule for purple strains is a load of crock and the leaves will turn purple when the plant is ready!

Is my assumption correct? Has anyone experimented with purple strains at different temps?

Cheers

I experimented with a non-purple strain by using cold water feedings (like 5C) and going from 80ish to 50F at dark and got og kush to go pretty damn purple! If you like the purple look than drop your temps/feeding temps down low near the end ( 7-10 days) and you will see crazy color. It won't hurt the health as far as I know.

Your a noob. You say you see alot of bullshit on here but what experience do you have to back up your theorys of what is bullshit? Giving your plants some water with some ice cubes isnt gonna kill your plant. Were not talking about putting the plant in a freezer.. its giving it cold water at night and dropping the temp to help promote purple buds... If you dont think it helps turn them purple then good for you.. Its not gonna hurt your plant or cause hermies if you just try dropping the temp and giving ice water.. what proof does anybody have that it doesnt help?? especially from noobs who never tried it or only try it once...
I never said using ice water would kill your plant. Just like dropping temps below 50 isn't going to do them any favors. It's certainly going to slow them down. And during a critical period towards the end of flower I think is foolish. Why slow your plant down that much for color? As far as being a noob i've been growing outdoors for over 35 years. Indoor only a couple years. I'm not so ignorant to believe I know it all. I love to learn new things.

I think I know the answer to this but just throwing it out there. What about the last week or two switching back to grow nutrients, has higher N but lower P?

Also, to help start lowering the temps, I've plugged up some heating vents in my basement to "help" cool it down. Help a little but not to much. Night time temps are sitting around 18-19C.
