heres the question thats sure to make the Troofers scream bloody murder, whats with the vertical flash and all the smoke? i aint never seen THAT MUCH SMOKE come out of a barrel unless it was a muzzle loader. and the smoke is awful blue...

the vertical jet of smoke looks like porting, but if it's ported, why so far back from the muzzle, and how would you port the lower bore?
in fact im not recalling that ive ever seen any shotgun thats ported, much less an over/under.

i suspect he's firing a Blank cartridge from a prop gun, which has been ported to reduce even the minor recoil of a blank, for hollywood pansies.

it wouldnt do for barry to fall on his ass when shooting a real gun now would it?

So, that far back porting for blanks?

But, you seem correct. Not smokeless powder.

I was visiting family last weekend and talked about Obama trying to ban guns. When all of a sudden my 8 year old niece starts yelling in my face like a drill sergeant, "Stop talking about guns. They only kill. Why do you want to kill me? I hate you!" She went into her room and slammed the door. She was in there for 20 minutes crying in her pillow. The fuck?

the puffy blue-white cloud of dense smoke is consistent with the "semi-smokeless" black powder propellants or smokeless powder firing under the low ass pressures generated when discharging a cotton wad instead of a bullet or a cup of shot (yes even bird shot)

without the bullet to increase pressures even balastite makes big fluffy plumes of smoke.


the jet from what appears to be a port is real far back, and that makes me wonder wtf is going on. most shotguns arent ported since porting fucks with the shot pattern, and muzzle rise isnt the problem in shotguns that it is in handguns and semi automatic rifles.

it's also definitely not a muzzle brake (to reduce recoil) since those are at the muzzle, not 8 inches back on the barrel

i can only guess that it's a prop port designed to bleed off pressure before the main charge reaches the restrictor at the muzzle, so if you put a live round in the prop gun, it fucks up the user, not the actor standing in front, and gives the "target" a reassuring visual cue that he is not about to be brandon lee'ed all over the set.

i cant imagine any condition where porting a shotgun would be useful (except fully automatic shotguns) and cannot envision any purpose for porting a real shotgun that far back from the muzzle.

3/4 oz of birdshot = 3/4 oz Slugger brand deer slug = 3/4 oz BB shot = 3/4 oz 000 buck = 3/4 oz of broken glass and bent over nails.

it costs the same energy to accelerate 3/4 oz of anything, and thus imparts a similar force to the shooter. even if the shot is so tiny the individual pellets are mostly harmless to anything but doves and pigeons.
