First Grow Ever

So, as this is my Dog Mac's first ever grow, He have a couple of questions.
When should My Dog Mac plant my seeds, they will remain indoors until he can plant them.
Should My dog Mac use fertilizer or just Normal dirt that's there.
Also, Does the plant smell pre-flowering?

Also, My dog mac is NOT Me, he's my German Shepherd.

2. What are the temps/soil like where you are from?
3. The plant shouldn't really smell pre-flowering depending on how long you veg it for.

My dog mac is planting in a very secure location, however he is not very sure how well the sunlight will be there, slightly shrouded by trees (Sometimes).
The soil is sort of sandy, hard to describe, My dog mac is in ontario (Canada) if that gives an idea of temps.

Though it's quite cold where you are now I've heard it gets fairly hot in summer and coverage from trees may come in handy depending on what you plan on growing. I would go for a hybrid strain as to somewhat prevent from early frost in September/October but strong enough to with stand the heat in the summer. As I've not much knowledge of your area that's all the pointers I can give in that regard.

Since the location is secure I wouldn't suggest using buckets of soil as it may be too hot for the roots during summer, though I would recommend using a soil mix (with a mixture of perlite or so it's up to you) as I couldn't imagine there being much nutrients in the sandy soil.

When I asked about the secure location I wasn't basing the question on accessibility rather than visibility/smell. In other words, is Mr Mac growing where he shits and others may notice it?

Well, the area that My dog Mac is going to be growing in has a small stream that is always flowing (Not visible from air however)
Also, the soil is slightly damp from the water so he might have to watch out for mold, he is not sure how damp is too damp however?

Does the soil dry often? Or is it always damp? If it's always damp then that is too close to the water.

I'm sure My dog Mac can find a spot that is semi dry then get some sort of irrigation.
The quality of the water is as good as any stream or river, its not mucky and has no other material in it.

Keep animals like dogs and cats away from plants. Bugs, fungus and many other hitchhikers will be introduced to your plants

The plants are definitely far away from any animals, including people, it's too hard to get to where i am going to grow.
Also, just for safety i'm going to put some chicken wire around the plants just so no deer or animals eat them.

If the location isn't too far for you to access I would suggest using water from home instead, though it's up to you.

Mac shouldn't use fertilizer for the first 3 to 4 weeks...
then he should feed 2 to 3 times month...
idk if he can read but if he can...he should check out uncle ben's nute info...i bet he would learn a lot...

My Dog mac shall learn to read, then he shall go on a quest to find this Mysterious uncle ben and his magical information.

Ontario, canada is a big place, but given that ur dog Mac is a german shephard, and not a husky, ill assume ur not in northern ontario...u can google last average frost dates in ur area, southern ontario is late april/early may...lots of people's dogs in mid/southern ontario put their plants in their homes may 24 weekend, but start them inside earlier

My Dog mac recently got some advice from my other Dog saying that the last frost is May 9th (average).
However, my friend told my dog mac that he should plant at beginning of may, then transplant them out on may 24th, or so.
My dog mac is not sure how this is going to work, as transplanting was not part of his plan, he was going to plant directly in the soil, Then sacrifice a goat to Zeus so they will sprout.
