I believe I read somewhere that you can pinch the taproot and cause major growth similar to supercroping a stem. Is this true?
never heard of that, but thats a major risk most beans wouldn't survive that kind of treatment, i wouldnt risk it on any good beans. but for the most part if you damage the tap root your seedling is pretty much done.

hmm never really took into account of root space.
Yessir poly. Plants build roots before foliage. So.. shaving/trimming roots just... doesn't make much sense to me because I'm trying to get the roots established.

I'm more concerned with root growth and development over foliage. After a while, u don't even focus on growing foliage, you focus on having awesome healthy roots knowing that healthy roots = healthy plant = what you want!

Just curious; Why do you trim your roots?

Trying to remember where I read that but its after its established not a super young bean. Seems sketchy to me but all this talk about root trimming reminded me of it.

well to start with, i do pretty much anything extreme:D cause i grow for resilience. so it some small root trimming causes an issue with a strain than i will probably toss it in the future. but i trim roots to encourage roots, but not only that so it expands the surface area, when you say "trim" the roots you should really be saying "topping"(or bottoming) like a you would say a plants stem because the reaction is very much the same, when you trim a leave 2 leaves dont grow back, but when you trim a branch or a root 2 usually will grow back in its place.

another thing is this, as much as plants need there roots ive done experments with chopping potting plants soil/roots right in half with a hack saw. they didnt even stop growing for a day. dont know what this says about roots, but i think root growth can be managed just like canopy growth, specific size and type or roots can be attained, maintained and still offer maximum results.

look at poly stepin into the led game. 120w led (119 1w diode, and 3 fans so im assuming about 100w in actual led light.) went ahead and threw it in a tent vert style to see what it does. very red dominant, but pretty sweet gift! thanks whomever sent this! the last pic is a set of bubble hash bag whomever gave me(gonna put these to work real soon good timing) and the bulb PF gave me, basically brand spanking new:) arc tube is almost completely clear and the halide salt are still bright and metallic looking, pretty nice(unfortunalty i just ordered another MH thinking this was an HPS but its all good i still have 2 good HPS bulbs)
just got some great gear thanks to some great friends! thank you guys very much!

Looks like Poly's feelin the love with all the gifts.

LED: That's one of the better R/B mixes I've seen. If you make/buy a couple vanity fixtures (to run parallel to the long sides) you could then add NW and veg with it too. See my thread for pics of the vanity fixture. I also employ Y adapters to double up, as well as to hit plants from a 45* angle

2 of your WH crosses are doing well. The J tap, barely hanging on. But as you know, I can bring can 'em back from death's door. Nothing to lose by trying.

I also bought a bunch of fresh cut Rosemary yesterday, and took a few clones.

I am really happy the bulb made it. Been sitting in my closet for 3+ years. I only discovered it ~ a month back, when looking for something.

thats why you keep the boxes! thankfully i have the box from my last mh and i put it in there for safe keeping.

the LED is pretty sweet, but i cant find the exact model it is on the net. wish i knew what leds i had specifically. i will be adding another 100w led to my grow, a DIY panel from aquastyles. but have been considering those little leds for spot lighting.

i was wondering there is small gat between reflector where the diodes sit and the outer case, does this matter since the LED light is already pretty directional? or am i losing some light in the gap? also do i need the glass on the front protecting the diodes(much like the shroud covering some LED bulbs do you need that shit?.) im considering removing it.

bring it back Pf! lol i cant wait for spring im going all out got a few different places that are gonna let me come hook up their gardens outside this year, so i cant wait to see what i can do, i want to get some 10ft tall tomato plants this year. last year was about 6 and 7ft trying to beat that. rosemary is the shit a good cure all herb and tastes pretty good too. me and my girl occasional drink tea made with it.

I doubt you are losing any light due to the gap. Sure, remove the protector. Lens angles vary from 60* (bad) to 120*+... good- none even better. Most older led fixtures use 60-90*, meaning they need to be farther from the canopy. If you don't have a light meter, use the back of your hand or a piece of white paper- move it from fixture down to where it id not as bright- that's the sweet spot

also this purp finished in 6 weeks. no pollinated caylxs in fact ive checked over everything on all the plants and no pollination anywhere.(except those intended)

somehow the seeded purps and a longer vegged purp are taking about 2 weeks longer it seems.(all from same same clone cut of #2 in germination rate from seed)

(hash, top pile is 160 micron, left is 73, biggest is 90:/how does 160 come out better than 90?)

looking great man, keep up the good work. your bubble looks way too green. my 2¢ maybe try a smaller micron bag?

i had some come out like that before and it takes a while to cure. i agitated way too hard and used really fresh trim. i found that good dry trim works better for the conventional ice water hash with siphon extraction. again my 2¢ and im by far a profesional.

honestly im going back to dry ice, ill never have the qty of good shit to make some decent bubble, what happened to that batch... well it was shit trim to start with:/ so i dont think it was the bags fault just mine for choice of poor methods, i gave that stuff away to guy for his bday.

yeah i never let my trim pile up. always want to do some form of extraction with it the day i trim it lol. i give the big fan leaves away to another friend that takes them and only use the sugar leaves.

me too got some killer purple trim sitting here drying to make some killer oil... this purple shit is really trippy shit, yesterday i tried to pick up a "tile" of a linoleum floor. haha when i reached down an realized it was just part of the floor, not a tile, just stopped like wtf am i that stupid.

yeah i like the dry ice with fresh stuff too, but im gonna wait till i harvest this next stuff in about 2weeks... finally almost there.:D
