Plucking the hormonal node

Anyone ever do this? I watched a FIM-ing video on youtube and the guy was plucking the nodes instead. Is this more effective than traditional fimming?

I missed that whole chapter on "hormonal nodes" (?) in Botany class. Care to elaborate? FIMM'ing is the partial removal of the apical meristem so that auxins are still produced, yet you get multiple meristems, all believing they are the apical. (Oversimplification, but accurate)

What you were probly seeing was called "Pinching Off" same as "FIM" just I different technique. You pinch the meristem, when you do that it breaks the plants axial dominance, causing it to bush out. From what I've read on it in the past.

I think I see what dude is asking. Without going in too deep about apical dominance, topping the plant promotes more side branching, each of the side branches will have an apical meristem as well. I think you mean topping that as well. Never done that personally so I can't really say. I always go in the other direction, and trim off all axial growth, leaving the main apical. (Lolly-popping)

Lolli-popping was the key that opened the door to indoor yeild for me. Many smaller plants vs fewer larger plants. I can get 8-9 lb off of a 4'x8' flood table.

LOL Keep at this and you will be, I promise!!! If you have the passion for it. For me, it's every bit as much about the science (and learning) as it is the end product. Cannabis is a unique plant.

Good vid. I just have never been able to get indoor yields that met my expectations until I got out of the mindset of producing more buds per plant and started thinking in terms of grams per square foot. You pack 72 lolli-popped plants in 8" (2 gal) grow bags on a 4x8 table and you get a whole lot of gm per s/f!!! Shoots keeping plant count low though, if that's a concern. I've seen some friggin' incredible yeilds from trained plants, I just have never pulled it off. I found this way, it works well for me, so I ran with it. Your own results may vary!!! LOL

On another note, FIMMing is not the same as topping. Topping will give you 2 mains. FIMMing will give you 4 mains. History is too long to go into, but a dude thought he fucked up and missed the mark when he topped, and he ended up with 4 mains instead of the 2 he was hoping for.

So no side growth or just a little? I noticed a little side growth in photo above - based on node or growth of the side branching?

Based on node. I missed a few, mostly on the Sativa dominant phenos. The Indica doms were TIGHT!!!!

I haven't started a thread on it because it isn't MY technique. I followed the advise of others. Just use the search function using the key word lolly-popping. I kinda accidentally fell into it, as I went a little crazy taking clones just prior to putting them into the flower room that time and was AMAZED at the results. Biggest fucking buds I have ever grown. That was a pretty decent yielding strain, but not known for the biggest buds when grown out normally. This way they were like bread loaves.

Well, not to disagree with you, but I think you may have taken "lolly-popping" to a higher level. A single cola monster is a bit more than lolly-popping... I hope you reconsider and do a write up on it as i know myself and others would love to possibly learn from someone like you that has mastered the technique - whether you consider it your own or not :)

What kinda wattage you got going? How long do you veg, and whats your yield per plant. I have 3 lights on a 4x8 table(a 4 a 6 and a 1000 with a perpetual conveyor belt type thing goin on... I can get more in depth on that if you want) I'm currently using the Lollipop/ScrOG/Super Crop method, so I'm really interested in your method

All clones vegged 30days, I then trim all axial growth just prior to flower (These are the next crop). Never calculated yield per plant, right at 5.5 lb from 72 plants, average of about 1 to 1.25 oz per plant. Strain dependent of course. I run a good Sat/Indica hybrid, fairly good yield, but MIND melting.

you get 5 and a half pounds on a 8x4 table with three lights? Good god man, please start a grow thread

Cops got my comp in the bust, but I have a few pics here and there. I'll try and put something together, but I'm trying to get going again here within a month or so, so it might be a minute. With your 3 1Ks you can do that. I use 2gal grow bags and pack em in 6 wide and 12 long. 72 per table. Primarily EWC and Rabbit Poo as ferts in soil made with BioChar. I supplement feeds with AACT (Alfalfa, Rabbit Poo, and Kelp) and just steeped teas foliar fed in the beginning.
