how do you flush in dwc?

is it okay to use all tap water and let the plant soak in that for 24 hours and then putting regular mix back in?

How do you get this far while being a complete retard. Humor me, what exactly are you flushing for a day? Your substrate?

When I first read his post I thought the same thing.

And that's when I realized you meant flushing for nutrients before harvest, right?

A normal "flush" from too much nutrient solution in a DWC would be to change the reservoir. This is as simple as,
"Oh shit, my plants look burned, reservoir change."

But as for harvest, you should just use nutrient-less water. Yellowing will occur, blah blah blah. But tap water? I mean, yeah it's fine, but you should really PH that shit or something at least. Why not buy some distilled water from the store for your flush?

Flushing isnt needed pre harvest. Some people feed less. Imma try that next harvest
Maybe he meant to say rinse instead of flush....When I change my barrel of nutes I don't quite get all the liquid out of my buckets so I fill with fresh water, let it bubble for 15/30 minutes and pump it back out...and then fill with fresh nutes.......A flush to me is when you add the flush additive flora kleen......So I rinse every week for a few minutes,....

So OP fresh water is fine just check the PH and let'er rip.....You don't need to go a whole day with fresh water unless you are having problems.....A half hour will work.........nitro..

Obviously hes asking how to flush the roots and medium. Not sure wtf you guys are smoking.

Regular tap water is fine. I dunk the roots in a clan bucket of water a few times and let them soak for a min... repeat a couple times. Pour one or two gallons of water through the medium.

That shit made me laugh bro.....can i use that as my sig?
You can use this.

^ what he said. And I should add that dunking your roots in plain tap water or any other medium that is drastically different in PH, PPM, or nutrient profile stresses the root system of the plants. Plants react to these parameters by adjusting how much energy is expended to actively transport minerals across the root membrane. Nutrients don't just flow through the roots, they have to be drawn in by means of systems that are quite frankly, complicated and beyond the scope of this forum.

In other news.. floroclean and other such "rinsing" products are the biggest fucking waste of money ever. It has been shown by other growers that flushing with these products has little effect on how much minerals are drawn out of the soil. Water is just as effective.

So in summary (especially for the guy who has images of dildos floating on his hard drive... You don't ever have to flush between nutrient changes.. its actually not beneficial, flushing products are completely bunk, and flushing for long periods of time prior to harvest is dubious. In hydro, a week tops, and make sure it is at the very end of the cycle as the loss of minerals will eventually cause a collapse of the chemical process that you are actually hoping for... cannibalism of nitrogen sources, conversion of chlorophyll, because the immobile sources of minerals necessary to complete those chemical reactions will eventually be exhausted.

I have found that the truth is if you use your nutrients wisely and don't over feed you don't need to flush. I think most of us get caught up in all the hype and overdose our plants hurting them more than helping them. I don't flush.
