Now I'm being told to use liguid karma instead of cal/mag with alkaline ro. Is this true,
or are they just trying to sell me shit I don't need? Thank you all at RIU.

Dude, I would add some cal mag anyway. I am sure the alkaline filter only adds a certain amount back into the water. And it probably isn't enough for plants. The liquid karma has nothing to do with this. Maybe start out at 50% dose and see what happens.

Thank you, I think I'll just get the cal/mag, I already have both FF trios and don't want to mix to much with it. Or can Liquid Karma be used with any schedule? Thanks again.

You can mix and match, but, it could screw things up. Like my nute line all I have to do is mix my R/O rez full strength and add cal mag which is from the same company. Afterwards my ph comes out to 5.8. The nutes are designed to self adjust the initial mix.

You see how a problems can arise mixing between two companies. Different nutrients can effect each other differently. So i try to never mix two companies unless it is just cal/mag or silica

That's how I feel, but what is silica, and what does it do?

You need both things.....they have different functions and both are helpful for healthy plants. Add all your stuff into the mix, then use pH up and down to adjust your pH to the correct range.
