Yellowing in Week 5 day 5 (day 40 from 12/12)

So i've asked this on my journal, but not getting any responses as usual.

I've got some yellowing of leaves on my 2 plants that are flowering. It has just seemed to slowy progress.

I may be wrong, but isn't it a little early for the leaves to be yellowing naturally by flowering process?



In this pic, I've managed to capture the entire yellowing process.
The darkest green leaf shows what it's leaves normally look like.
The lighter green leaf shows mid-yellowing process.
And the yellow leaf shows the stage before it crumples and dies off

you forgot to tell us what you feed em, tho I can see you grow in grow bags useing soil/perlite

if its just a few bottom leaf`s don't worry to much, in my experience its just the top grow using up the food stored in the lower leaf`s specially if you cut most of the nitrogen (could also be a PH or a MG problem tho need more info)

Apologies, i usually include all this >.<. And what worries me, is that it isn't just the bottom leaves. The green is fading out of a number of the leaves on the entire plant. If i had to guess, i would say about 30% of leaf volume is discoloring.

This issue is happening on both of my plants, and to keep from spitting out different amounts for each, i'm going to highlight the biggest one.

Soil 100% FFOF in 5Gal bucket. The top of the soil is about 5 inches from the top of the bucket, so its far from 5 gallons of soil
Watering ever 5-7 days with 2.5 gal of water. Nutrients include:
Dyna Grow Bloom, using 20ml in the 2.5 gal of water.
CaliMag, using 10 ml in the 2.5 gal of water.
PH is adjusted to 6.8, as my runnoff has been running a little low.

if a lot of the leaves are turning a light green to yellow the its lacking nitrogen do to useing it up or lockout depending on when its ready you might what to add nitrogen but thats ok if your going to harvest in the next to weeks thats why people flush two weeks before havesting to get rid of the nutes in the soil and the plant uses up whats left in her

I just thought it would be strange that such a high dose of Dyna Grow Bloom would still allow it to have a N def.

So giving it say, 5ml / gal of Dyna grow Grow, would be enough to curb the deficiency until harvesting?

I have no idea of the flowering time as i think this was a strain created by experienced growers in this area. But i suspect i have anywhere from 2-4 weeks left.

yes you could add a bit more Nitrogen/veg nuts, but as bseeds said, it not uncommon to get some yellowing bottom leaf`s in flowering and if your late in to flowering its not the right time to add nitrogen agin, next time add some in the early stages of flowering (the stretch = fist 2-3 weeks of 12/12) so they dont yellow up so much this early, tho looking at your plants I say they are Indica dominated, so 8-9 weeks flowering is what I believe will be right for em, so 2 weeks or so left, no need to add nitrogen now, just continue with your bloom nuts for now and cut em in a weeks time and do a few waterings with clear water before you harvest ..

If you're only in week 5, and it looks like you have at least another 3 weeks left, I don't see a problem with a shot of N, but to me, the discoloration in pic 3 and the discolored tip in pic 1 looks like a burn.

What kind of burn, trying to pull up some of the stickies, but the images aren't loading for me right now for some reason.

Also, this might be of some help. I've just been noticing that the buds dont seem to have grown very much. Maybe its just me....

I'm thinking a P burn, and remembering when I just did it, my leaves turned like that, yellowing and burning starting at the tip, that's why I continued to give more P, not even thinking about a burn, just assuming it was a deficiency.
If it's not my imagination, bud growth slowed for that week also, until I got it figured out and flushed, even then continuing for a day or two after.

You didn't mention exactly HOW low your runoff is.

Well, for one week my runoff got down to 5.3, because i was fucking up with the ph up. Didn't know to dilute it, as it was my first couple times using it and hadn't read anything on it.

I was stoned and though the cloudy was cool

But my buddy set me straight, and getting been getting runoff of about 5.8-6.0.

It might also have to do with the fact that it hasn't been flushed with just water since it was in veg.

Have you checked your soil PH yet?
Anyway, try and keep watering with the correct PH until you do, and back off on the P and K if you can.

How would i check the ph of the soil?

I've looked at the test kits with the soil sample, and even used one before, but recently read that they didn't work or something.

Somebody here should be able to give you a good brand name of pen, but I haven't had to use one yet, so I can't help ya in that dept.
I've just got one of the cheapo things for 12 bucks that checks PH, light and moisture, but it reads real close to when I check with a drop test kit.

Well i actually have one of the moisture/light/ph ones and i just ran in there to check it. There is no way that thing still works. It was showing reading of 7.5. And i haven't put any water in it with ph higher than 6.8.

Ya, something is really jacked there.
Most nutes will drop PH when used, though I did read something last week somebody said their OLD nutes actually raised their PH.
Mine reads about a point and half to two lower when soil has just been watered than it does when soil is ready to be watered, which is very close to the drops,but it reads same as drops if I just put it straight into the water.

I would worry more about my medium's ph rather than the runoff. Yellowing in flower when you have 3 weeks or so is never good. You will lose some yield if it continues. I feed light doses of N throughout week 6 of flower. Sometimes even into week 7 if needed. Don't listen to the hype about it being normal to have yellowing that early in flower. I'm no expert, so your problem may not be N related. Nevertheless, keeping them green is essential for a top shelf run! Good Luck.
