ppm 850, ph 5.9, temp 76-82, humidity 45-54ish, flood and drain hydro, water 3 min 4x a day. 600watt hps 6inch inline 440 cfm with carbon filter...ok so 3rd week into flowering and my plants are budding but my bottom leaves are still drying out and dying, doesn't really look as if my plants are growing either. I cant fig out what to do, ive tried everything I can think of..can anyone help or tell me what the issue can be? 20130215_070525.jpg20130215_070539.jpg

heat stressed? temp stays around 80..thought that was avg? also the humidity level was only @ 26 for a while. just got a humidifier 2days ago and brought it up to around 43-55ish temp will be aound 75..have to turn my inline off in order to maintain that though. once I turn it on humidity drops to around 26-30 causing heat to go up to around 85-88..

some are curling down..most though are curling up. I did have a nute prob as I went by the label and hate my ppm at 1300..prob 4 or 5 days ago..was told to lower to around 800 so that's what I did. basically within the last week or so ive dropped my ppm form 1300 to 800 and raised my humidity level from 26 to 50ish yet I see no improvement...

heat stress..no. underfed..very possible, also whats your ph? pay attention to bud growth not so much foliar growth now that your in 3rd wk.

what are your nutes? i noticed in one of the pics that there are plenty of lower leaves dying off..shouldnt be happening this early in flower. maybe it just needs some N, just a thought. but even if theres a lack of micro nutes that can cause major lock-outs...hope this helps...not too familiar with hydro :)

I doesnt look like a N deficiency and if it were that, it would be happing too early. In which case those dried up leaves may have suffered a N deficiency, what are you Nutes at? The first 2-3 weeks after you switch to 12/12 will be the stretch and still want a good level of N that is the same level as P. Then, after the stretch, switch to a higher P lower N. Any way you can see the roots, what is your medium? My next guess is root rot or some sort of algae break out. You have a lot of dead leaves on the top of you media, this will cause problems. I dont know what your set up is exactly, how do you feed and drain? Do you have a reservoir filled underneath? If so how often do you check pH root rot can cause pH to rise and cause certain nutes to lock out.

First step...clear all those dead leaves

3 x per day for 3 mins. What do you have to hold on to a little of that moisture? If just hydroton, 3 minutes seems like kind of a short time for the plant to draw it up. I use a 4-inch rockwool cube in hydroton and don't have to water every day (every other day yes).

Dobbys got it. Increase the flood time. You can go as high as 15 minutes start to finish depending on the mix. Make some reflective plastic reflectors and put them at the base of the plants to help maintain moisture between waterings etc. For a mom in gravel under flouro it's ok to water every two or three days, but under sodium the minimum is two 15 minute waterings every twenty four hours.

my plants are in 4 inch rockwool cubes inside my hydoton.

flood and drain. flood 3x a day. 4inch rockwool inside of hydroton. ph 5.8 checked daily. ppm around 800 or so.

never heard of making plastic reflectors. should I do that with the rockwool cubes?

Deff make that about 15mins 3 times in the day, right when lights on, mid day and a good 1-2 hrs before lights off, that will help with some droopiness. Make sure at night the humidifier's off, humidity will rise already and with that going you will have a mold problem. Can you get an up close shot of just one leaf that are damaged on the bottom? If increasing the watering doesnt help in a couple days with the leaves and bud growth I'd say you have root rot causeing your plant to stop growing and die from the bottom up, your stem will start to feel weak and topple over. "If" that's the case then use about 10% or less h2o2 to clean the hydroton roots and rockwool. But hopefully increasing the watering helps!
