"Colored only" after school tutoring

So you're born poor, I was poor as shit too but was raised with good morals. Lol, leave school to help their families? Or to join a gang...this isn't the 70s, it's 2013,the government helps more. My mom raised 2 kids, by herself, worked 2 jobs at times and went back to school. So there are no real excises to pull the race card anymore, maybe it's because she got her tubes tied instead of having 13 mouths to feed? It's all about the decisions you make.
But see, with that logic you're saying there's no money to be had because what? They just never wanted to work that hard? You have to get *hired* at two jobs to be able to work them.

i'm not talking about your anecdotal experience.

for example, try to explain the achievement gap by referring to skin color only, no other factors. tell me what you come up with.
When you eliminate the inner cities there really isn't an achievement gap. The problems in the inner cities is cultural, not color.

I don't know why you think we are better than blacks. They are just like we are, some suck, some don't. You would think by now everyone in the US would recognize people are people.

You can't legislate equal outcomes. Quit trying please, you are fucking things up.

No, I'm saying we all have our struggles, my mom and family is no better off than a poor black family. The point is, the same help is offered to both sides, it's up to you now to accept and use it.

That's a good way of putting it, the inner cities have a cultural thing they need to break. They've been "fighting the power" so long, they don't realize how much of the same we are now.

White kids don't have enough time for more school they have enough on their hands just trying to figure out how to shoot em up because they feel ostracized.

I see how you're explaining it, I just don't see how of me being poor somehow subjects a poor black family to have better opportunities now, vise versa, it's just living in the past and not an equal right for me of we did have something like that, which we don't, because everyone is equal now.

I'm poor, they're poor, how am I not going thru the same struggle now days.

Well...psh! That's the problem! We held them back so long and then get tired of their retribution to their circumstances, so we change a few laws, throw them some exclusive black only passes to scholarships and them to just trust us. "Let us help you" probably doesn't carry a whole lot of weight in their communities anymore. And let's be honest, if you're born in the ghetto, and you're raised in the ghetto, you probably work in the area because travelling for work is an expense you can't cover. So you're making wages that aren't competitive with any place other than the ghetto you're already living in, how are you supposed to move out of it? It is VERY hard to leave a life of poverty. And then to top it off, all of the people in that ghetto who COULDN'T find a job, they're stealing your stuff, because they have to do what they have to do to feed their families, and if that means chopping your car up, well...you're SOL. It's a cycle. Poverty is just a terrible, terrible cycle. And we can't pretend like they weren't forced into that.

I actually just read recently that the average lifespan of uneducated white women has dropped dramatically. Not that it's pertinent or anything, I just...thought of it.

Why does it gotta be a white women though? I bet other groups of people live longer the more they are educated, even men.

I have no idea, that was literally the headline. Was an MSN story. They studied all racial/ethnic groups, it's just the white women had the most alarming drop, so that's what the story was about.

Most people steal stuff for crack there, and I have a cycle as well. You know why? Because I'm too damn poor for a car and it has taken me a year to find a job at times.

Sounds like a personal problem, not my fault you can't get over it lol.

So then it's the communities if you say there's no jobs what about the poor white kid in the ghetto? Just because they're black, a white lid in the same neighborhood still doesn't any special opportunity? How is that fair?

Oh! Oh kid! Omg. I thought you were making a weird white kid hat reference. Ok I have to stop having serious conversations. I'm sorry. I'm just too fried.

Looks like you were to me, yes of course there is an achievement gap, that's not what I'm talking about, and then you said about how it's still happening now because of the past, I just don't understand your meaning, everyone has the same opportunities.
so someone born to a de facto segregated food desert has the same opportunities as someone born with a silver spoon in their mouth?

Yeah I'm one of the few here that actually tries to make an opinion without name bashing, we can agree to disagree here tho.

Bucks statement In responce to:

If it was "whites only" they would've already sent in the national guard and arrested everyone. ************************

Thank you Bucky for your response. Now all forum members can see just how far up your ass your head is.
am i simply imagining an achievement gap that resulted from centuries of enslavement, persecution, disenfranchisement and institutionalized racism?

or did that actually happen?

I was raised in ghetto ass trailor parks, where's my perks? My family has always been tailor trash thruout the generations. Being black and poor now has better special opportunities than a poor white kid? The same question that I asked Rainbow about a poor white kid that has been raised in the same exact ghetto neighborhood is more limited because the color of his skin?

when did i say we were better than blacks?

think of it this way: if we were a majority black country, founded by blacks, and whites were brought in as slaves, then freed but disenfranchised and segregated and faced institutionalized racism, would you be against helping whites to achieve the same footing as those that profited off their enslavement and discrimination?
