That's the process, I'm sorry to say. State laws about death penalty due process. It takes 20 years. Almost that in TX, but then they get to it. In CA, the first 20 is legislated via the bogged down process, and then the delays happen.

There is a way, and they will deny it or more properly never address the tapes at all. Most people will believe the police because it is in their best interest to do so and most people don't believe in conspiricies, even the ones that are true.

Agreed, which is sad.. many would just have to compare the 10s of archives floating around, with time/date mention in them.. and it'd clearly illustrate that the police are in the wrong.
