Moe where should i use the 4 ft, t5 bulbs I just got? I was thinking about the Vault?
I recall WattSaver stating the T5 will only operate at the wattage of the fixture. It wouldn't be worth swapping out a good T8/T12 with a T5. ... I think you're right though, the 'Vault' looks the place for it.

I just installed them and I was so suprised, they say grow bulbs, so I replaced the t12 on the shelf with them. I did a comparison of the t12 over the tank to the t5 top shelf both 4 inches away and the lux for the t12 was 94, but for the t5 it was 191...I would say I move her to the tank rather than the shelf..

As you may be able to see, the plants on the right are Royal Cheese. The buds are massive and frosty but the plant has developed what I believe may be a cal/mag def. I bought some of this today, it was the only cal/mag supplement they had, worth a try me thinks :bigjoint:

I'd give it a shot if it was the only thing on the shelf, of course I would have asked a ton of question about it.

Moebius, nice and tidy! Your wire management around the timers and ballast is commendable....
Thanks Jela.

For ages it had been messy but I've got round to tidying it a bit. The room is all coming together now. Its taken a while to figure it all now but it's dialled in. (no smells and nice ventilation)

How are your hempys doing?

Whocares, I have a thought that might help bump up your cfl ring. Maybe grab 2 large lasagna pans (one time use ones) and make-shift them together over top of your cfl unit. The reflectivity should blast any of the light being lost upwards, back down into the canopy. Someone else jump in if this seems like a bad idea. I usually grab a roll of aluminum from lowes and make my own, but for sake of money, the lasagna dishes should work good as cheap large reflectors. Peace!! :)

Sounds like a good idea. ... Although where I come from, store bought Lasagne usually comes in a black plastic tray that half melts when you put it in the oven. ... I'm assuming you mean like a cheap aluminum roasting tray or a pie dish.

That would work.

I thought Aluminum had no real reflective value? I plan on covering the bottom with Mylar....But that's another day.

Hey I was out playing in the garage nad I found a older security light says M90 100 watts, has a glass cover so I'm assuming it's metal halide? Is it useful at 100 watts for anything?

Yes, that's MH - do you have the ballast for it or something workable? at 100w.. not so much, but better than nothing should you have 0 MH to start with

The reflectivity of bright aluminium foil is 88% while dull embossed foil is about 80%.[SUP][6][/SUP]

Here's what I found, sorry no time for clean up yet. Says made by Lithonia lighting. Inside is says watts 100 lamp type m90...has 3 wires coming out and says 115v, so regular light wire...would there be a ballast in there, as it's a sealed unit and I can't break the screws lose, I'll have to get someone with stronger hands than me.100_2024.jpg Reflector and glass look very nice, may need to be rewired and the wires sticking out look cracked...

At 80-88%, would be better than nothing. Could also spray with flat white (spray paint for metal) to even out the reflection as well. Most hoods are made from aluminum as it is light-weight and disperses the heat evenly. Just like heatsinks attached to a computers cpu/motherboard. I think it would greatly help in lumen strength till you can upgrade your systems :)

I wouldnt use Aluminum anything with HID ... due to heatspots.

A tray or pie dish with CFL has been done many times by others and looks good to me.

You can't use this Hempy sister.

It's too dangerous. ... The equipment we use is designed to be used indoors in the case of fire. .. Technically that'll work but the risk makes it a definite 'NO'.

That's going to be fairly warm. If money is an issue you could prob use it. For about 70 dollars you can but a 150 GPS that would be more effective. For about 300 you could get a dimmable 600 watt with hood.

well maybe I'll sell it on ebay and get some money for something better....
Its taken me a long time to get together the equipment I have. I'm kind of pleased like that because it's given me the chance to learn the craft. .. You'll doing really great so far, and far in advance of many Ive seen, including myself at this stage in our hobby. .. It'll come together.

I think the only reason HID was mentioned was because its something to bare in mind, rather than necessary. You may come across an Amazing deal so its worth keeping an eye out. I know where I live, so many growers QUIT after the first few weeks. :wall: Either their parents smelt the Ganja or the plants died, but they end up selling it cheap in the classifieds. I myself sold lots of good equipment years ago, so I know this to be true.
