first time grower

So heres whats up this is the first time ive grown and i really dont know what to do i have the set up and the lighting and stuff all figured out from reading other threads, but when it comes to nutes and ph levels im at a loss. Im no botonist biologist or chemist so treat me as a sped with advice.

Basically just want to know when to apply and where to get the nutes.

Nutes can be purchase in most garden shops mainly for soil, all garden shops don't carry hydro nutes that I've found, for hydro best on line, ph depends on what medium you are going to use, for soil you want a range around 6.5, for hydro you want 5.8, you feed your plants as needed, for soil maybe every 3 to 4 days depending on drainage, hydro maybe 3 to 4 times a day or more it's up to you. for hydro you should have a ph meter and a tds (ppm) meter, good luck and we're all here to help, note I'm a hydro man so I'm not too familiar with soil grow, I'm sure others will chime in.

I'd go with soil for a first grow because it's more forgiving. Feeding depends on the nutrients you choose, but in general you'll want to feed then plain water once or twice then feed again and so on. Most companys have a basic feed schedule for thier nutrients. Deetee right on with the ph level, anywhere from 6.3-7.0 is good for soil. I'm a soil guy and not too familiar with hydro. Gardening centers (obviously) sell nutrients, but a dedicated hydroponics store is your best bet to find a full range of nutrient lines and ofcourse you can get anything online.

Thanks guys appreciate started with soil starting from seedlings so im not going to be using nutes first off. From reading some of the other threads ive learned that dyna grow is a relatively easy going nute and basic for starters like me. Giing to start with a three day feeding cycle but yet again im only in week two of growing and ive only got sprouts. This is all for personal use so im not going to go nuts and try for anything huge just basic is what i want.

this is what we have accomplished so far, we don't know what kind any of the seeds are but we don't mind. we have always bought good stuff. we have a total of seven seeds three of which have sprouted, and 4 that are still germing. (turned out the left side lights for a better picture.) we have a dual core fan usually used in a window i switched around one side s blades so it can exhaust the old hot air and left the other one regular to circulate it. i have 4 33 watt cfl and one ~75 watt cfl, larger for the canopy and the smaller ones on the side (under canopy i think its called.) I have a 50/50 soil mix, just cheap-o potting mix for indoor plants from the town gardening store, plan on using a perlite coco mix for the transfer. im curious on how big i should take the plants. like i said this is purely recreational and i dont want to have to much.... but then again can you have to much smoke? all else fails i could sell some. comments on the setup dos and donts should i cange anything stuff like that.

My method is to grow in soil ffof with 25 percent added perlite. I do not check PH or PPM. I use distilled water gallons only as a water source. I dont test it, nor the soil. The only thing I measure are the nutrients. I use 1/4 strength to start and gradually increase to full strength. I don't use grow nutes since the ffof soil is rich, and I dont need nutes for my usual veg period (30 days). I start and finish with bloom nutes.

Don't let people fill your head with this is better than that and that stuff is garbage or its too expensive, RIU is full of these people. Any store bought fertilizers will work, the key is learning how to use the nutes you have. There are advantages to buying nute specific brands like GH or AN but even using MG you can get decent results.

Meters will help you figure things out. PPM and Ph meters are cheap now and with a note pad you can record everything and eventually fing out a feeding schedule that works for YOU.

If you have the money a 3 part system(grow,micro,bloom) make thing releatively simple. Most nutrient lines will have a 2 part or 3 part. These are usually pretty stable and easy to understand. Cheaper nutes like MG can be different from one batch to another, hense the meters.

The temp is fine sits at around 75 have fans to circulate and keep the area cool and dry. What should i use other than aluminum foil? And im a baller on a budget so cost is needed to keep low. Thanks
