Once heard years ago that once you get old and senile all you have is your memories. Don't know how I feel about that. When I look back on my life I smile mostly, I tend to remember the good things. My wife is different, she tends to look at the glass as half empty. She had a real hard time growing up and can't get over that stage of her life. She never spoke to her parents...she remembers just being in the way. I had a rough upbringing as well but tend to look at the brighter side of life. It's funny what you remember though... When I was 4 I remember the Adlai Stevenson/Dwight Eisenhower debates. Scared the shit out of me, two men standing in front of a podium yelling into the camera. Also remember my mom kicking my dad out of the house a year later, hardly ever saw him again. I think the fact that we both came from broken homes made us better parents.
