how to stretch during veg.

Yo i was just wondering how to stretch during veg. There 4 weeks in and are really bushy but not too tall. Im using a 660W hps at around 20 inches away. Any advice lads?

Add some blue spectrum CFL. 6500K range. 5000K will do fine. The more you add the more the stretch. They are more for veg but you are just trying to get a fuller light spectrum. Besides they will stretch when the time comes under straight HPS. Just wait is my advice,.

Im not using blue spec. Im using a hps bulb. Already at 20 inches. My question is how to stretch during veg without adding nothing. Cheers

There are a couple of ways you can increase stretching during veg.

TEMPERATURE
The greater the difference between day and night temps will increase node spacing.

LIGHT POSITION
Move your light further away to increase node spacing.

NUTRIENT STRENGTH
Weaker nute mixes also increases node spacing.


IMO though the tighter the node spacing the better the bud development later on.

I try to keep my node spacing tight during veg and flower utilising the opposites of what I told you to do to increase node spacing.

New to growing, but I see alot of stretched out plants on here and everywhere else. I'm assuming thats a combination of strain and running low intesity lights like cfls during veg and even flowering.

I used a 400 w MH veg and HPS for flowering at 12" from canopy. My AK47 and Pineapple express are 30" at week 5 flower. They were 25" when I flipped to 12/12 and I was expecting to double their size. Never happened. So, back to the OP, why would you want to increase the stretch if your lighting will only penetrate so far down the plant?

These plants that are so stretched but have like 8 leaves are a joke. Poor light placement combined with poor choices in light spectrum are the main culprits, not the strain in most cases. Yes some strains are destined to be wondrous stretchers by way of genetics but all can experience stretch.

never heard of it being bad if the plant doesn't stretch...
i will assume you are new to growing,soo i will say it.as soon as you start flower plant will from 20cm go to 150cm soo dont worry about it beeing to tight just do some LST prepare some tops

depending on the strain if its sativa i would flower when the 4 inches tall, read the descpition about the strain thats a priority i would flower now there tall enough thats just my opinion i grew ultra haze number #3 i flowered when they were about 3 to 5 inches tall it said it was short sativa remember read up on the strain, also in flower control the heat that will them up to they were beautiful when they were done they cam out great dryed when them snapped delically jarred and berped open the jar frenquently spill them out on a plastic sheet paper is ok to every day or if you rember the buds are letting out access of water leave then delically put them back in the container if you have multible jars same thing applies dont get the strains mixed up i did the best i could to explaine that what i did take a break and do a rest clean your grow room after harvest like i said take a break if you want to keep a fan on it will dry out the grow room if your in pots the fan will dry them some not in whatever if your in soil, soiless mix and etc i hope i didnt affend anyone important burp those jars 12 to 15 times the drying should be done. have a good one

if they stretched some or alot dont worry about it
