Yup. I woke up early this morning because I was suppose to take DT, but the joint closed at noon in preparation for the big weekend. I'll admit it, I'm obsessed with growing. I'd say I spend a good 2-4 hours a day researching for the last two months. Not much too do till this job starts so I'll even answer the questions that people are too lazy to look up :)

why use coffee cans? seems like it would be hard to transplant, I have used 2-liter soda bottles and 16oz solo cups with great success. I'm just thinking the lip on top of the can would make hard to get it out when it comes time to transplant.

Good luck

Would it be ok to use coffee cans for starting up my plants? It's not the permanent container.
That and pudding cups, margarine contain. what ever is easy to get plant out of later. Thats exactly what I'm using now. Depending on size....the pudding cups work well for seedlings, because they are easy to move around and don't take much soil, just keep bright light off so as not to toast your roots...

Also since this has kinda turned into a DIY pots thread I thought i might offer a tip. If you do decide to use any kind of plastic container I have found it very easy to make perfect uniform drainage holes using a soldering iron, just get it hot and push it through.
