Where will the buds form?

my girls are starting to show signs of budding (few white hairs, few teeny tiny buds coming through)

but the way i trained them (trimmed top leaves a few times, can't really be seen from the pic but on 3 separate occasions i cut the topmost, fully formed, fan leaves to increase growth below the cut point) has resulted in loaaads of secondary growths (some of which have 2-4 nodes of their own, some have even started to show secondary growths of their own (tertiary growths?))

is each node likely to produce a flower? or just the nodes that have developed stipules?

and if its just the ones with stipules can i trim off the leaves on the growths without them?

i know growing 2 in one pot isn't the ideal situation but it was the best i could do, and i (personally) think the girls have done really well for a first time grower

any help would be great

The pre-flowers of (buds) grow at branch internodes just behind the leaf spur or stipule about the fourth week of the vegetative growth stage, when the plant is six to eight weeks old. This is when the marijuana plant experiences sexual maturity. Male plants will show “nut sacks” or seed pockets, where female will grow white hairs which are the pistols out from their nodes. Where the females grow the white hairs behind each "node" is where your bud will form.

I've inclueded a picture to see exactly what I'm talking about bro.

On the right of that picture is a (male) plant, to the left is a (female) pre flower. That is the area where your "bud" will start forming all along your branches.

Hope that helps ya out bro.

And honestly bro, I wouldn't go trimming on your "leaves". :( its the "buds" "energy" during flowering (buds) are forming, and produces "sugars" & "food" to the forming buds. So I wouldn't remove (any) of your plants leaves bro...
