RO filters

Hey guys i have a GE RO filter I just changed the membrane and filters and it wastes A LOT of water, and makes VERY little usable water.

Anyway i am looking for a new filter that has decent gph and wastes little. What would you guys recommend?

Invest in a booster pump. If you have low water pressure. The more you can run at 65psi the more efficient your system will run. Also they make different sized flow restricters you can run in your system to waste less water.

im not sure the exact psi of my water lines. I have it connected to the same line that goes into my hot water tank. The water pressure is anything but low lol.

The GE system, with proper pressure, will make about 2-2.25 gallons at a shot... If you are getting that, then your system is working just fine... If not, get a larger storage tank to handle the water flow/storage... By nature all RO systems waste water - you arent gonna find one that doesnt.

The booster pump makes up for the reduced pressure from the city line. The RO membrane = increased pressure (resistance) so the pressure at and passing through the membrane is actually quite reduced. Booster pumps are cheap. Worth routing an RO line from your home main (usually a 3/4" T) with a 1/2" line coming off. You can switch the booster on/off with a simple pressure switch.

yeah but this RO system is wasting 4 times as much water as its producing. The waste line is trickling with water and the water line drips here and there. is this normal?

Grab yourself a Hydrologic RO100 or depending on how big of a garden you have maybe a RO200. You have the option to run it at a 2:1 waste ratio and save yourself alot of waste water. Most houses have more than enough pressure at the faucet to run these units.

RO units will waste, all there is to it. As mentioned, get a booster pump and it'll waste less while filling up. I don't like the waste either, but my plants thank me for it every time they get a drink!

That's what I had to do. Our city water was just to low pressure. The booster pump is the cats ass.

You shouldn't have any leaks in the system. There should only be water coming out your waste water line and your pure water line. As mentioned, your gonna waste some water. Even if you do buy a new system your water pressure is gonna keep you from running efficiently.
