So I have 2 autos, Dinafem Cheese and Kannabia Mikromachine, going in my 2'x4' veg tent along with a bunch of other photo-period seedlings. They are all about 3 weeks from germination, and have been under 216 watts of T5 lights (blue/veg spectrum, 6500k) 24 hours a day.
It is my understanding that a 20/4 light period is ideal for most autos. Is it safe to assume that an auto would benefit from HPS light (red/flower spectrum, 2700k) when they start developing pistils and/or flowers? I ask because I will soon run into space constraints in my veg tent and may have to move the autos to my flower tent.
The flower tent is 5'x5' and has a 600 watt HPS. But of course I have it on a 12/12 schedule because of my photo-period girls, and I hear less light = less development for autos. But they will be getting roughly 3 times the light intensity of HPS vs what they have in the veg tent, but for half the time.
In your opinion, are the autos better off under 216 watts of T5 lights 24 hours a day, or under 600 watts of HPS lighting for 12 hours a day? Thanks and cheers!
