In theory yes 8 weeks from soaking you could have grown the seeds, vegged them, cloned them and then put the clones into flower, although my timeline would say another 2 weeks to make sure everyone has shown sex, i have had plants take 3 weeks in flower to show sex. But you better be damn good at every aspect of this to even remotely touch that timeline, i am pretty good at growing, and i couldn't remotely do that. (i could tell you exact timelines on how to get this to work, but again its hopeful thinking)
What chef is saying is take cuttings of the plants now and then put the (seed) plants into flower. Keep close tabs on what cut is from what plant, then when you find a male you take out all the clones from it too. This will give you 8-10 weeks to veg out the clones while the (seed) plants flower out.
Issue here is you may want to take the clones, give it a couple weeks to make sure you root everyone and don't have to take more clones. Obviously this all takes space, and i am sure you realize that you need seperate flower and veg areas.

Therein lies the rub. That is exactly what I did with my first 10 seed grow. Took cuttings of all 10 during veg, stuck them in the cloner and after the plants went to flower decided which clones to trash. But the single cabinet limitation makes that a no-go. Bubba, looks like you will need to start construction on your grow room pretty soon. Bet you will need to make the tough decisions on topping your plants pretty soon, they look very healthy and may want to outgrow their headroom in a few weeks. Really an amazing grow underway there.

Do y'all think I have a potassium deficiency? It looks like it from my book learning one of the books I have has a pic that is almost identical looking to these spots on my girls, but it wouldn't let me copy and paste... IP, whassat? But I found this one thru google. The problems are on lower leaves so I dont think its the lights.


The google shot is the one with the yellow leaf.... I'm thinking I caught my problems early. You can barely see the main spot forming from the pics I posted yesterday. They're in happy frog soil in 1 gal pots. I'm thinking they may have sucked all the nutes up.... Putting all 5 into the 5 gal pots with a graduated mix of Happy frog and ocean forest tomorrow, but its gonna have to wait until tomorrow night...


Overall they still seem healthy. Temps are running 78 w/lights on 68 off.

Here is the mix I run:

8l Roots Soiless
4l Sunshine Rainforest
2l ewc
4tbs guano
4tbs Age Old Dry Fruit
4tbs crushed oyster shell
4tbs kelp meal
3tbs Age Old Bulb Mix
2tbs Age Old Root Boost
2tbs Blood Meal

I also layer blood meal and I will use a little alfalfa meal as a top dressing the first or second week of flower. I "cook" that mix for a couple of months. I also run all of my super hot peppers in that mix.

For that little grow of the autos I'm going to just run Ocean Forest with Happy Frog Bulb Food layered in. For future grows I'm thinking about a modified Moonshine Mix.

You could get a small bottle of Cal Mag and add a trace to your water, or go broad spectrum and add some Super Thrive to the water. Personally I'd look the other way unless it gets worse. Maybe a more experienced grower will recognize what this is.

Wow, great info. I understand that soil is crucial and have read up on some recipes out here. Thanks much for sharing yours. I took so long to build the cab, I just grabbed some bags of happy frog and Ocean Forest. I would like to tell you that I plan to compost in the future and make my own, but I'm pretty lazy about stuff like that...

Ok, panic alert switched off, thanks guys. My largest and healthiest seeming plant has 7 nodes, starting 8th, and is only 6" tall.... Thats a tight spacing yeah? Bubba's bonsai weed garden.... gives a man a bit of a Napoleonic complex....

Ok, I couldn't leave it be.... good thing too. They were all root bound as hell. Anyone think they may recover? I only took pick of one, they were all the same, even the 3 wk old was bound (not as bad, but roots all around pot). The lights work fine, it's Bubba's skills that's lacking From here on, seedlings go straight into the 5 gal pots. Transplanting was a pain in my back, literally. Sure doesn't take much for things to go sideways.

Can't believe I didn't join in on this thread earlier, I love cab grows! That is how I started and grew for a long time years before stepping into larger spaces. Now I have to load a fat bowl and enjoy reading though the progress of your grow Bubbagineer!

Nothing at the moment. I should have picked up lumber yesterday for the mother/veg cab, but had a long day. Now the snow is crimpin my style. Probably tomorrow. With one under my belt, I should be ale to build this one in considerably less time. Famous last words.

Thanks doc (mind if I call you that for short?), glad you stopped by.

I think all is copacetic. Completely drained the whole blumat system, added 4 more blumats for a total of 10 (2 per pot) and may add additional drippers to spread the drips around better. I bought extra when I bought the first Blumats stuff. Why buy 1 of something when you can buy two at twice the price right?

Pretty sure I purged all the air out of the lines, hope so. The lights are at 22-24" above plants and I can raise them another 2' before I run out of headroom. Temps are staying around 78-80 lights on 68-70 lights off. I added a DIY humidifier in there, I need to buy a humidity gauge so I'll know the RH - first time I've even addressed RH in this grow. Not sure ow critical that is...

I will be pulling those 2' HO T5s from the bloom cab (negligile next to the 3 LEDs) and will use them for lighting in the veg/mother cabinet.

I think I'm back on track. Wonder if that crazy root growth was because I left that seedling Matt under the 1gal pots. Probably huh? Duh lol.

Interesting, thanks for the tip and I will plan to try that next grow.... I wonder how the Blumats would work in that scenario.. One things for sure, no more heat mats under my plants once they are out of seedling phase... Or maybe I'll try it with just heating one 5 gal pot next time and compare to two other non-heated pots. I feel certain that the crazy root growth had to be the heat mat as I wasn't adding any nutrients. Good news is that they are perking up somewhat. I feel guilty for treating the plants so harshly.. live & learn.
