Yeh, U say That. THats what i was gonna say. there Awsome if u know how to use em.
There is the easy way to do things and there is the hard way of doing things, it has nothing to do with affordability. That being said, I'd love to see your plants, money bags .What gets me is the only reason peaple put advance down is simple, because they cant afford them so it pisses them offf.
First of all, last time I checked, there aren't 13 products in the Hobbyist or the Expert growing bundles.I have recently been contemplating trying advanced nutrients product line. I have heard nothing but great things. I am currently using plantlife products 3 part with a bunch of additives. This current system works outstanding but is a bit costly. So my question is, with advanced nutrients do i need all 13 additives and the two part sensi to grow outstanding marijuana? Or just a few of the additives? they are separated into 4 different groups. hobbyist, expert, professional and grand master. Do i need all 13 additives included in these groups our just certain ones, and if so which ones? Does anyone have an advanced nutrient chart they are using that they know works outstanding?
....which is 7 more 'things' than your plants actually need.First of all, last time I checked, there aren't 13 products in the Hobbyist or the Expert growing bundles.

And, no, you don't HAVE to use anything. You choose to not buy everything - or anything - they make.
But my experience is that it's easier to grow better buds with an entire system, instead of just picking and choosing. But that's just me. it might be different for you.
Nothing wrong with that at all. Not much difference between the 2 really. Maybe with a little supplement play you could go grow all the way. I never used AN grow though. In the past I would use anything that I could mix up to get a 3-1-2 ratio and then use Sensi right at the switch. I found Dyna Foliage-pro perfect @ 9-3-6 (3-1-2) and add 0-0-3 protek and offset it with 33% more cal/Mag 2-0-0. Perfect for me in coco using RO. Bloom Sensi all the way !!Just like hotrod said earlier i only use two things outta that 11 part series. Sensi a and b and it works great for me. I dont like to complicate things either and ive had great results so far. I do run the grow way into the bloom cycle though
Protekt is potassium silicate which is definitely beneficial but not essential (does a silica deficiency exist?). When used with RO water, it balances the pH of my foliage pro base (or grow), but so does pH up. If I had better tap water, I could just add my base and be done with it but that's not the case. I need a buffer in there so that's why I use Protekt or pH up. My final NPK is probably something like 9-3-7 or 9-3-8, not really sure how much protekt affects those ratios at the rate I use it at.HB : Don't you "need" more than Dyna-gro Grow or Bloom for your plants or do you strictly use just Grow or Bloom? And is Pro-Tek not really "needed" ? When all is said and done, what is your N-P-K ratio if I may ask?
Do you use it throughout flower? Some people only use it the first few weeks; not sure why.Protekt is potassium silicate which is definitely beneficial but not essential (does a silica deficiency exist?).
First off welcome to RIU. There is a misconception about cost of AN products, yes I use it but if I was able to find something else more cost effective and gave me the same results I would use it hands down. Costing ml's per gram has been a game for me for awhile now and I have gone through most of the well known brands.I have recently been contemplating trying advanced nutrients product line. I think NPK ratios are more important in hydro as dirt/coco/promix seems to function differently. Hydro or dirt, I'm not set in my ways and am always tweaking what I do. If I posted those numbers, I'm sure it 'worked' but I'm looking for what works best. Hence the side-by-side I was planning. In regards to that test, it's going to be bases and protekt only. I'm thinking our plants prioritize the elements differently than what we're lead to believe with all these high P and K foods. This test should clear some things up.@HB I read on another thread you use 1.5ml grow and 3 ml Pro-tek in Veg. If thats the case that would put you at a 1-1.3-1.6. It seems so low in N for veg. It seems to me you need like 2 more points of N. That's why foliage-pro IMO is better for pot. Have you tried upping the base to say 3ml and reducing the pro-tek and then use ph up or down as required? It seems to me that way, you would get much more micro's in there. 1.5ml base just seems too low. In discussion with some nute companies, the consensus is that 30 ppm of pro-tek (about 1.25ml) is adequate to reap the benefits of silicon. I'm sure you tried it all and came to your successful conclusions anyways , I was just curious.
Now I'm betting your upcoming experiment will favor the GROW vs the F-pro IMO. With Grow, all you need is a little more P&K to be ideal. Will you be using anything else like Mag-pro?
I sort of alternate its use in flower with pH up. I think too much silica can make the leaves brittle. That's just a theory though.Do you use it throughout flower? Some people only use it the first few weeks; not sure why.
Last grow , i actually used Pro-Tekt with DG 7-9-6 all the way to harvest. The end product were always same result, aroma or taste is good, no bitter or harsh anything like that.Do you use it throughout flower? Some people only use it the first few weeks; not sure why.

ya know most time, a lot of people gave misinformation because they just heard from other grower then other grower etc. Its best thing is expriement on plants by yourself , thus you will know for fact.
happy gardening.
