lol altar u got a hp!!!!!!!!!
LOL... yeah I hear you... pretty close, but still... for so many watts... I wanted to see higher yields... hopefully this new arrangement will justify the amount of lights I'm providing... it's just hard to justify putting so much light on such a small foot print unless it's going to yield higher, but I feel like the scrogs under 10 tubes flat with no side lighting did better. Maybe it was a better grow, or better soil health because it was 5gal's instead of 3gal's... but I swear I pulled more off those scrogs I failed to weigh. And there was very obviously deficiencies with this last batch from a few weeks after flowering began til the end, and I'm positive I affected yield, so I'm hoping to see better results with this soil.

The fact is that I was topping out at like 1000w when I had the extra big CFL's in the back too, and it was shoved into a 4x2.5' footprint... compare that to investing the same 1000 watts in an HID bulb with a bigger foot print that would probaby yield even better and it seems silly to use this setup the way it is if I can't do better than what the last run did.

I do think that scrogging under all flat T5's has great potential for high yields, and is probably the way I'd go if I had more room to work with so that I could maximize the footprint... but for now, I'll see if it's possible to get better figures out of all the watts I'm pouring into this tiny footprint by improving my greenthumb. :D I should get back to reading teaming with microbes, haha.

See this?

I don't ph my water lol. Your doing organics now right? If so as long as you have a buffer your cool bro.
Beeeeautiful sir... but for all I know your faucet spits out perfectly pH'd water ;) Seriously though, I will trust the buffer, lol. I just hope I added enough.

My faucet spits out 7.7 water lol
Oh good it's not just me, lol. I have well water, I don't get why it's that basic. Oh well. I'd love to get it tested, but will probably move out before I bother. The PPM is really low, though, like 40-50 max. Wonder what that 40-50 ppms is, heh.

Im on well water to :). It tastes so good though bro. If u need any help with the organic shit don't hesitate to to ask me or 420 and of course swag both dudes are very knowledgeable in my book.

Right on man... I love well water... when I go to my mom's now I can totally taste the difference now... who knows what I swallowed living there for 20 years...

I will certainly not hesitate to post my concerns, haha. Thanks man.

Main-lining in progress, here's one of the raspberry coughs:

Here's one of the C99's, which are all a step behind:

Nicely controlled start!

I hope to do some similar experiments....perhaps a SCGROG.

Thanks for sharing.

Good luck,

JD

I am going to follow nugbuckets' technique (https://www.rollitup.org/subcools-old-school-organics/542308-main-lining-thread.html) pretty much to the letter, though I'm not sure if I'm gonna do 8 or 16 heads. Was planning on 8 originally but then I saw that the first 16-head he posted out-yielded the first 8-head so it's tempting to try it. Probably just settle for 8 heads for now though, as I'm not sure how crowded things are going to end up in there with all six plants leaning out on their support rings. Then again. I dunno. Well see. I may very well keep the C99's a step behind just to help even out heights for the future... so that would mean either 4 heads on C99's and 8 heads on the raspberry coughs (which is where I'm at now, would mean no more cuts on either plants once the new heads are established) or go the step further and do 8 and 16. Or I could leave the rasp's at 8 and do the c99's up to 8 later, use supercropping to correct heights. I dunno. I'll probably play it by ear, Wouldn't mind seeing how the results differ, but would have to do one of each qty. per strain, which wouldn't really play into the height-evening concept...

...but I digress.

Gonna throw up some pics of all the jars from the last run and some close ups of a couple of the nicest kolossus buds in a sec.

Oh, I guess technically that's not all of it, there's still some in the freezer i didn't pull.

On freezer curing: Honestly, I'm not terribly impressed. It's fine I guess... if you couldn't be around to burp your jars it would be a good alternative... but really the buds didn't even seem fully cured when they came out even after about 14 days... I gave in and just popped it into the corresponding jars at that point, figuring it will mediate and balance with the jar cured stuff and everything will even out nicely. There is still one strain in there, I think it's some of the anesthesia. I might leave that in longer just to experiment.

So I've noticed some variation in my tap water pH, might explain some of the issues I've seen in the past... I though tit was stable at 7 but it's more like 7-7.7 with a variance... don't want to keep getting dicked so I'm checking every single watering now... just wondering, to anyone who might be able to answer... is fresh lemon juice alright to use as a buffer to bring it down a bit? Won't hurt the beneficials in the soil, right? I also have some hydro ph down, but that's bad for the soil, correct?
You're EWCs and your compost source from the FFOF house your buffers Altar!
Have you been sitting the watter out for a few days prior to watering? And also try bubbling it for a day or so before you use it! Chech the pH afterwards and see if its made its was back to neutral!

Here's an odd one....do we ever add gypsum to buffer pH?

I ask because gypsum is a very popular supplement for mushroom substrates.

We will use lime to raise pH and add gypsum to make this pH more stable.

...just a thought.

JD
Lime raises the pH, and peat lowers it.
The microherd in a good soil should buffer everything you put in it!
That's what makes the ph stable. A soil that teeming with microbes! :joint:

And you should start collecting rain water boss! IDK about the quality of well water, but if you're having issue, I'd do a rain dance and set the buckets out haha!
Some people have REALLY good luck with the pH'd water tho...But the way I see it, we're growing in the same soil and I've never know the pH of my water haha

I haven't done so because I have well water so i know there's no fluoride to evaporate... but that's a good idea, I will leave some out and/or try bubbling and see if the pH evens out.

What size smart pots are those you're in?! I'm wondering why I'm seeing yellow :?
Not too worried about it as of yet, the yellowing was from pre-transplant, and the growth has been vigorous and very green since the transplant. The already damaged leaves are as they are tho. I'm not sure exactly what the yellowing was (it was coming with rust spotting as well as some rust/necrotic blotches over center veins of petioles) but I haven't seen any progression of it since transplant. It looked sort of like a calcium def, or the start of something else... was wondering if I took the soil for the solo cups from the right place, was worried it was that damned miracle-gro brand perlite getting me again at first. But I have seen no signs of new development since transplant, and the leaves that took damage end up getting trimmed out anyway once the mainlining "engine" gets laid out, so it's no big loss there. I will definitely be keeping an eye on them to make sure the yellowing does not progress at all in the living soil, but I feel pretty confident that mother earth's got 'em now. :D

BTW, they are 5 gal. bags for 5 of them, the sixth is in a 5 gal bucket with a shit load of holes drilled in the bottom and sides.

They seem really happy in the soil... no signs of burn, and rigorous growth. Very nice rich dark green color too, though it's hard to tell with the over-saturated exposure from the lights being on in the pics.

Thanks again Sincerely :D
