10 Lamp CFL reflector

When I bought this house and cottage business there was some galvanized sheet steel in the storage area. I do not use it in my business but have the tools to do so.

So I decided to build a 10 lamp CFL reflector. Now I am no sheet metal worker but it came out okay.



This last picture is show LST, I am training them due to the fact that I was not expecting so many clones. I had called my Buddy and told him I was going to start a Medical grow and was looking for some quality seeds. He call me back last Tuesday and said he had some clones for me. I was no where near ready for clones but he gave me 5 little ladies from high quality stock, I love my friends.
Now my planned grow cabinet will have a grow area of 30" X 30" X 5', so having 5 ladies in such a confined space will not be easy. I am LST'ing them in a counter clockwise rotation in hopes of getting all 5 to full maturity, when I get them in the cabinet I will look and see if a SCROG will be the better way to grow them. Anyway the this last pic show the training in progress. I call it NASCAR training, grow fast and steer to the left. LOL I will be taking clones from these ladies and want to do a SOG after this one is completed.


If needed I will add up to 6 extra side lights.

Well, that's it for now. Hope to keep y'all up to date, keeping a log and may post it when I am complete with the grow.

Well all is installed, now working on the cabinet. Hope to finish it soon because I am amazed at how warm my closet get, even with the fan. And the plants (5) get dry very fast, I know the are in to small a pots and with the fan and light they will dry out in a day. So I am water about every 30 hours or so, depends on how dry they are.
My plans are to work on the cabinet today, tomorrow and try and finish up on Saturday.

I like the DIY reflector. That could be a 600-850w light depending on the type of cfls you use.. I could see myself using 85w bulbs and scrogging those five plants get a good half pound hehehe... Remember cfls show slow growth. Instead of having the fan on the plants, I'd put the wind on that reflector. Cool that down so you can have it as close as possible to the plants. Nice job

Heat has not been a problem at all.
Well the CFL's used are 6 - 23w 1500L, 5000k and 4 - 26w, 1650l and 2700k. About to change to 8 - 23's and 2 - 26's.
I have had my share of problems here, not light related. Nubie stupidity.

Well I seem to be doing my best to kill them, with the root rot, and having to prune the root so severe, then a nutes issue. I was sold some organic product by the sales person at the hydro store, give him my conditions for growing, well I put it in my DWC and the next day foam was all over the closet. I called the manufacture and talk to a tech guy and he said I shouldn't use that product in DWC, that it would foam and produce a heavy slime. Well i removed a basket and sure enough it was way bad, so had to remove them all and wash the plants and every thing related to my DWC.

All of the plants looked that the top pic. Was not root rot but the totally sealed off the roots and they looked bad.

I am seeing some minor change in the looks of the plant but really to early to tell.

Never prune the roots unless it's root bound. Get some super thrive and hopefully they'll bounce back.
Don't ever listen to the people at the Hydro Store, they are there to sell you shit you don't need, NOT help you.

GP, I had to cut them back, that first root rot got me good, the roots were not viable, almost black.. Tried washing did no good, actually the plants seem to be responding after the cleanup from the nute/slime incident, Thought about just take cuttings and start over, but no, going to see it through.

Take cuttings for sure. Get some experience doing that. And if it doesn't go through, atleast you got them clones.

But yeah I heard super thrive works wonders.
