Taking Pictures of Trichomes?

Macro mode, go full 30x and you should have crystal clear shots of the trichomes as long as you have a steady hand or have it on a mini-tripod/something to keep it stable.

Edit: I see it has Steady IS, so that should be a non-issue re: steady hands.

Before you do, make sure that it has no GPS capabilities.. I didn't read about it in the manual at quick glance, but you do not want to upload pics to the forums that contain EXIF data which may effectively give GPS coords to your place.

Nice lookin out man, totally didnt check if its on or not. They really shouldnt send that turned on. lol
Agreed, and am not sure if it is, or if your camera has it.. but I do my best to remind everyone with newer cameras to check for that so you don't get any nasty surprises.. or alternatively, if you forget about it and ended up with perfect pics.. there's multiple tools that are designed to completely rip EXIF info out of pics pre-upload.

You should just about be able to clearly see them trichs with your camera. My 7mp camera will do a decent job with the macro on and really close, I could just about see the trichs, I use it more to see the color. Your camera should definantly do good, atleast get some really good shots.
Radioshack sells a pocket microscope with led light for $12.99 that will zoom 60 - 120x, if you really want to see them in all their glory.
Another thing you can do is take your camera and put it up to your microscope and take the picture, here is one I did:

You want to be in manual mode. zoom your camera all the way out. move the camera to focus. it helps to have a tri-pod or rest the camera on a table. make sure AF is off. turn off AE. Turn Off Auto ISO. turn your digital tele-converter to 2x. a good start starting point would be F2.8 with a shutter speed 1/60 second. ISO 100. You can use tracking with your white balance to help with your lighting. once you get stuff set up you use your manual focus. The focusing plane is very narrow, dont bump the camera. Adust your shutter speed for more of less light. ISO 100-400 The higer the ISO value the more grain to the picture. You can play around with the F setting the aperture of the camera. bringing more of the shot into focus the Bigger the F number.
I almost forgot :eyesmoke: stoned......... starting close and move away from what you want to shoot slowling until it comes into focus. around 9-12inches away. You also want to use your shot timer. set it to 3 seconds. the camera needs to be stable.;-)

if setting a timer you would want to stop down close to all the way (f/11-16 or 22) choosing whatever shutterspeed fits to make the exposure because there should be no motion in the photo or the camera besides shutter moving. therefore just f/stop is important IMO. shooting something that's still with a lens opened up at 2.8 or wider makes zero sense unless trying to be artistic, it's really just sloppy.. anyone with experience would say to shoot with more in focus and you can always unfocus areas later
top fuel... do you know what white balance is? like kelvin temp?
if you do you should recheck ur pic.
sorry know this is old but didn't expect to find bad photographic information on a ganja site= had to throw .02
