I'm an athiest and think of "karma" as a valid concept. What you do, others feel. Unless you're a good actor, it comes back. It's basic cultural anthropology. People follow kinesic cues, which usually happens unless you're a psychopath, and will tend to become in synchronization. Both individuals will tend to do this until some middle ground is met. There can be no middle ground if your goal is to constantly exploit. So you set into motion a complex set of reactions which result in what the exploiter doesn't like.Small time stays free in the ganga world. Tell no one and no one can tell.
And to me, the nasty ass comment, "karma will bite you" is no different than any other Relgion.
It is exactly the same as saying "God Damns you to burn in hell."
Just another religion and your own "bad Karma" to talk glee to suppose another's karma come up-ance.
