8x10 attic room build

I wonder if you can figure out an automatic watering system, maybe set a rainbird sprinkler system up?
a top feed drip system is something im thinking about for the future. gotta do some research and find out how to set it up for soil first. like water/nutes schedule.

Nice room! I am about ready to start my first grow in dresser. My summer project is getting attic room ready to go! Same size as yours in a Midwest climate, very hot to very cold. Should be a challenge to keep the right temps. Will be following your log and best of luck!!

Finally time to move to the room, and now there is a problem!!
when i tested the room it was 60* outside now its getiing into the 80's and im having trouble with heat.
my a/c has no problem keeping the room cool, if the lights not on. the insulation is working
the 6" fan isn't really cooling my 1000W because its sucking in 90+ degree air from inside the attic.
so room temps are mid 70's but under the light its almost 90....

thinking i might redesign today :wall:

any ideas ??? especially from someone who has delt with attics before??

my a/c is the main culprit for making the attic air so hot. so maybe i'll make one of those boxes around it, and try to vent it outside.
maybe open a vent to let all the ambient hot air out too.

What I always do with my grow tents is cool the room outside of the tent try and get it to 68 so that inside the ten is like high 70s 80 at the most, I also had a question hoe much cfm is your 6 inch fan pulling I'm doing a 1200 watt 4x8 closet and was thinking a 6 inch 400cfm fan should work fine.

update:

i made a few changes. i moved an entire wall back 2 feet to open up the attic's air duct to outside. so now the hot air has a way of escaping. then i got more ducting and ran the light's fan intake over to the side where there is fresh air coming in from outside on the shady side of the house. the air should always be 80* max so i think that is good. planning on building a box around the a/c today with extra foam board too.

the 6" fan cooling the light is 424cfm. i was planning on adding a booster fan because of how long the ducting is, but after feeling the suction its still really strong. so im thinking its good.

Nice yeah sounds like you got all that under control, and like a 6 inch exaughst fan, with a small 6 inch booster fan pushing air in should work for me then.

Joe I was going to make the same suggestion and wanted to read it all before doing so, I guess we are like minded. I have moved 9 lights on a light rail 5.0 all ducted. Its the only way I can get my 2+ pounds per 1k. I think its cheating a little ha. Parkth3car I'm not suggesting you get a 5.0 but the older model ones are very easy to install and are getting cheaper by the day. They have always given me 25% more and the light angle cuts into every plant making all my lower nugs much better as the plant cant shade itself from the light.

what kind of setup you run for that?

Home built:mrgreen: It was 8 4x8 ebb n flow tables. Four with stands as usual and four with there 1'' edge cut off and flipped over onto the others. Think huge ez cloners. Then cut 3 inch holes in the bottom of the flipped tables for net pots . Simply built large manifolds with 360 sprayers pointing up to lay in the base of each then plumbed back to two 100 gallon reservoir's. Used 1'' bulkheads for manifolds and drain. Called it ez bloom tables. If your lost and want to get an idea of the system search ez clone and picture it made with 2 4x8 flood tables. The cool thing was that we made a ez veg too and cooler yet is the ez clone would slide in the ez veg which would then fit in the ez bloom like Russian dolls:mrgreen:. If ez clone were looking to make a new product it should be this.
Lights were on a extended light rail 5.0 with two add a light kits and 3 add a bar kits with 9 cool tubes. On average pulled 2.4 a table and in total pulled 2p per 1000 and a high or 2.4p. 1 week veg and 63 day cycle nothing got bigger then 3 foot tall. It was best when they were about 30'' tall. Best system I've ever built and there has been a lot of systems. You name it I've built it.

This was not my attic setup lol. This room had to be 16x8 and was 23x14. It took me forever to find a bedroom that big but I lucked out and found it after about two months of searching. My attic grow was about 4 years 6 years ago and had 2 4x8 tables down the center. My room had the full steeple so I used it to trap the hot air at the top and pulled it out with one of those fan based triangle louvers at the end of the house/grow room if that make sense kind of how a greenhouse does it.

See how your wall are well I made mine out of framing 1x1 lumber then connected the foam to that so it would be strong and lite. I put hinges on the top of both walls and had 4 pulleys on the ceiling with rope that came back to my door so then I pulled the ropes the hole walls would open and I could then walk around the tables. Worked like a charm. Had a roller desk chair so I could work sitting down haha Im tall:wall: Sorry for all the posting I hope you can use some of it.

Ya lambo doors haha. Its what had to be done. I didn't have money for another system at the time and I had two nice tables. I don't have any pictures of the system when it was in my attic but I do have some of when my roommates moved and I acquired another room of the house for a veg room. Funny story I made enough money from that grow to buy a third table and because it was summer I moved all three 4x8 tables into my bedroom. One table per wall butted up in the corners with light rails on each and my king size bed on the fourth extending into the middle of the garden. Looked krazy as hell. So I decide to go out for a change and hit a couple bars down town and ran into a recirculating girlfriend. We both continue to get good and drunk as this was the only thing we did well. Not even thinking about it I bring her back to my place. As I reached for my bedroom door it hit me like a brick. I thought about it for about 5 seconds and said fuck it being that the dark period had already begun and I was drunk lol. There is nothing like 3 1000 watt light on movers to wake your ass up at 8 in the morning. I turned over and she was holding her hands above her eyes shaking her head and the only words spoken were(what the f&^%! Where the hell am I?:o) I laughed and we took off to Walgreen for a day after pill. True story swear ta god. Is there a place for these stories as I've got even better ones.

There are so many misconceptions on FlIR the first is that it can see though something. You hear so many people scard that it will see the hot bulbs though there roof and that couldn't be further from the truth. It can only see heat on a surface or air. So if your attic was so hot that your roof was so hot it would look a drastically different shade then the houses around you they might be able to tell. How they really use it is looking for hot air expelling from your home. If the air you were expelling was hotter then the out side air and you were shooting it out a duct out the side of your house it would be seen as a jet stream of white smoke coming out the side of your house.
That being said they almost never use it and I have personally never heard of anyone getting caught that way. Its to expensive for most county's to afford and just think how much fuel it would cost for the heli. On top of all that you have to hover close warning you they were on to you. My county like most doesn't even have a heli so they sure as shit don't have all that. For personal use a wise man on another forum long ago said No tell No smell No sale No jail. Words to live by if you don't ever want to get caught.
