Light Dep Question

If I start light deprivation can I take the cover off after dark? Does anybody have any experience with light dep? Just wondering if it will keep the plants from flowering. Because they are going from complete black, to the open where there is the moon lighting and some ambient lighting from a street light.

Idk I'm high.

You should be fine as long as nothing stronger than moonlight hits it. Or maybe it will just grow legs and walk around while you are asleep like the toys in Toy Story.

Thanks for your input all. Doublejj, everybody I know does it like that too. But my light dep chamber is not very large, so I don't want there to be any issues with the moisture being "trapped" in there for so long. And also maybe creating a breeding place for insects. I appreciate your input all. Keep it lit.

How many of them is it? How big? You think you could cover them? I know I couldn't do that everyday with just my 6 plants without injuring my back. That has got to be killing you.

I just started a small grow outside and know of the dep chambers, but just put mine in a estimated 2.5 gallon medium into the ground. I have nothing covering them and they seem to be struggling a little bit. I'm not sure of outside grow techniques but, it has definitely been below 50 on a few nights, even close to high 30's. Now the weather is permitting a little more and I have noticed significant change towards the positive. I'm an experienced indoor grower, but am a bit dense on the outside grow. I had some extra clones left from the selection process as usual, and wanted to try something new. I transplanted them outside and they have been flowering for the past 4 weeks, but have been drastically slowed down due to the cold weather. From what I read online, I only have about another month before the sun starts to stay out to long. I'd say that these have at least another 5-6 weeks to go before they're finished and I was wondering if I still have the correct amount daylight in this season to finish or not. And if I do, how long could I run flowering plants before it would affect them.

P.S. I'm aware that this is a terrible time to try and flower. Just wanted to see what I could do with them in the off season.

Right now in my part of the world there is only 12 hours and 16 minutes of light still. But everyday it increases at a rate of approximately 2-3 minutes per day. Your plants MIGHT recognize this change and reveg. I wouldn't risk it. I would be pissed if my plants were to reveg haha. That is why I am doing the light depo. Just to make sure they stay flowering. They say some indicas will finishing flowering outdoors if they have been light deprived or flowered in doors for a few weeks prior to throwing them outside. I aint gonna chance it bro. YES. exactly what i did. Im not an early riser, so getting up everyday before sunrise didnt seem very good. id cover the plants 12 hrs after sunrise, and return at sunset to uncover, but i urge u keep a tight schedule, a coulple days i forgot to cover, some days i covered late, and ended up herming them. Its a pain in the ass though

...also i found that being that you have fat buds on your plants in the heat and humidity of july and august, mold is a big factor and spreads much faster in the summer heat. it doesnt help after your buds are cooking in the hot humid sun, and they then get enclosed in an air free enviroment, and my dark tent sitting in the hot sun all day was easily 100*F which didnt help.

Fresno, I'm further south than you. Close to TJ. I veg indoors with t-5's at 18/6 til my plants are 2 feet high then I stick them outside. I try to put 3 plants outside every 30 days. 8 - 10 weeks I harvest. From then on I get a harvest every 30 days. This is my 3 rd year doing this and have never had a problem with revegging. I put my first plants outside the last week of February this year. I'll get my first harvest somewhere around the end of April.

Harvesting 3 smaller plants at a time is much easier than dealing with trees. 3 plants will usually yield a little more than a pound. 2 people can trim this up in a couple of hours. Works out very well for me. I put my last plants outdoors in September.

Yeah. I getcha. It does get hot as fuck out here too(105+ every year), so I am assuming it would be approximately 115-120 in the depo chamber.....which is not cool(no pun intended). Hopefully these will finish by june or I'll be fucked lol. Thanks for the info. I didn't even have that in mind when starting this.

Thanks for the advice! In those depo chambers in the heat, as I am in so cal....little west of palm springs, would it be advisable to try a mister system to keep the chamber cool? I would think that would be to much moisture, but in the desert who knows. I'm from the east coast, just moved out here and don't quite know the seasons to well other than the record books of the area which are actually quite helpful. I'll get online and look more into the depo chambers instead of bugging people with questions, but thanks again.

Like I said, first plants went out the last of February. My last harvest last year was early November.. Vegging indoors and flowering outside works great for me. When you go from 18 hours of light down to whatever the day is outside, that plant is going to sense the shorter day and start flowering. I see a lot of people on here talking about flowering plants going ape shit over the days getting longer outside. All I can say is I haven't seen it..

The hardest part for me is keeping the right amount of plants ready to go outside. They grow so fast that they fill my veg room.
