Silly HPS/CFL Question

I HAVE AN SUNSYSTEM 150 WATT HPS LIGHT WITH BUILT-IN BALLAST... IT HAS A E39 MOGUL... CAN I PUT A CFL BULB THATS A E39 MOGUL INTO THE SUNSYSTEM FIXTURE? ONLY A 125BULB.

P.S. THESE ARE FOR AUTOFLOWERS. PPL SAY I CANT GROW 3 AUTOS UNDER A SINGLE 150HPS ALONE.

i wouldn't think so, cfl's normally have their ballast built in, so that likely is not a good combination
no experience with HPS, but with 3 autoflowers you might be able to pull it off with plenty of reflector
just be prepared for modest sized plants, there not going to be thick trees

its mostly practice/personal. not looking to yield HUGE Crops just my own little medicine until i learn more.

i can just get a basic reflector and a cfl bulb (feliz). for a small closet it seems to be enough. i have a fan. its warm not hot or super cold, good ventilation

that sounds right, the 150 has a fan club/thread for growers
i have considered it for future grows, it brings some game to the table
you don't have to cool tube it, which is what you need for larger HPS setups

hmm, thought there was a 150w hps thread here, but i do see a couple of threads but few posts
there is another site that does have a 150 thread, it's the other 'big' grow site

NO!!!!

Each ballast is specifically designed for a specific type of bulb-- use the wrong bulb and yes- they Can/May explode AND short-out the ballast... thats why there are 'switchable' and non-switchable ballasts...not interchangeable!

all you need for a large CFL is a basic mogul-base fixture- get em wherever you bought the bulb.... use a bat-wing or other cheap reflector and you are all set. CFL's do not generate the heat of CFL's so do not need the same type of hood....

Mogul base is just the size- doesn't mean it needs a ballast

eg. a Sunsystem 150W HPS bulb
