I am loving my Indagro PAR 420.

Ill let the pics speak for themselves, any feedback is much appreciated and please keep the politics to yourself, Im honestly too old for the shit and did not start this thread for a cock contest. Anyhow, These are pics of my grow, Indagro PAR 420, I run Advanced Nutrients Sensi 2 part and probably 9 out of the 12 supplements. They are all in Sunshine #4 soilless mix, which I have custom made my own Plant Warrior pots with 5" net pots turned upside down and lined with 2" of hydroton at the bottom of pot. I peak my PPM around 1250 with a Hanna meter and PH is 5.6. This particular strain is Bubba 76 (pre 98 Bubba Kush X 76 Afghan) which I received free from the tude. The momma of these ladies is around 6 months old, I cloned and then did a quick LST for a shorter plant when flowered due to grow space and pot size limitations. They are now beginning of week 4. The smell is great, sort of a Grape-ish peppery smell, very sticky! Thanks for looking!

***I almost forgot, the pic with the yellowing of leaves...I made the mistake of putting 2 clones in one pot to see what she they would yield, and now they are fighting for nutes:(

Thanks! Indagro only in Bloom, I run a couple H.O. T5's for veg, but soon as I am ready I will be getting another Indagro to go from start to finish!

Take care,

Since you have experience with it, the site says a 420 Par replaces a 1000 watt hps do you think that's accurate? It also says it will cover a 5x5 area, what are your thoughts in that? This looks like a very possible solution to my lighting a 5x5 tent and not having heat issues. But I need enough light to veg 12 plants.

@Mugsy...I heard someone speaking about an Indagro say that "they are getting everything they want out of the light, rather than getting all the light you want into it". After that I was pretty much sold. Judging by what everyone has said, and I will have some end results here in a month so, they do look very lush compared to the 1000w and all its heat! They are much more resinous(Check out the Petiole in some pics they are full of trichomes all the way up), very aromatic, and everytime I take a peek I am astonished at the growth. My momma is 6 months old, and I know they show faster, but the ladies showed in 6 days after light change!!!!! I was blown away. I can physically see the trichomes from the naked eye, and could probably judge harvest by the pictures Ive posted they are so plentiful. With your 5x5 tent, the mylar and all...The plants absolutely love the light, and I would have to say YES! that the PAR 420 stands up to its hype...and then some, but I also read on the IG website it replaces a 750w HPS?. My 1000w Agromax is sitting in my closet, nuff said. Im all about quality and the 1000w was just too hot for my room. Tried 600w, 400w and they all kicked off so much heat, take the light and along with it buy an A/C unit too, cause youll need it. I did! With all that and the headache, I said F this and made the jump. I dont like the mercury content in those bulbs, I dont like the life expectancy, I dont like the electrode and its 5 minute wait time to fire and be fully functional, and I sure as hell dont like that big ole hott ass ballast. I figured Nikolai Tesla was and still is a damn genius, and of all the talk, I dont think I have read or heard many downsides to the indagro. Any questions please ask, I surfed these forums for months before buying, was very skeptical, gained the proper knowledge behind the IG and would be happy to help anyone wanting to know pros or cons of the IG. I will post new pics as they come! ***Also if you look at the bottom of the pics, you should be able to tell the dates by the names of the pics. So you can see the progress of the IG week by week.

Thanks !

Thank you that answer was super informative!! So do you not need a a/c to cool the tent running one of these or do you still run a evac inline fan? I'm seriously considering this after seeing the ad in high times and now seeig your grow. I would mainly use it for veg.

Anytime brother...When I got the IG, i took the 1000w out and its brother A/C unit and replaced it immediately!
The amplifier(ballast or what you would like to call it?!) on the top of the IG does kick off some heat, but only if my door is shut. I have a space that is 3 ft W X 5ft L and 80" H. I put the IG in there, I have a 170 CFM exaust fan (u can see ducting in pics) with NO A/C!! that fan only does exaust (limitation) and most times my door is open but has to be sealed for a few hours during the day. During that time, the temps rise to just over 84 degrees after being shut for around 4 hours. I would say in a 5x5 tent, you would need maybe a fan to blow the hot air out the top, that is definitely more square footage than mine. I put a small fan blowing on the indagro bulb itself and it seems to cool it right down. I told myself that when I move, Im buying the 5x5 tent, I have confidence you wouldnt have any heat issues in that unless it is very short! Hope ive helped you out, the IG really are something to be seen. And I am in no way affiliated with anyone on this forum but there is one guy if you ask me knows his shit and if you search indagro on RIU youll surely find him, Spliff! I dont buy into the talk, but when you have videos and proof, ill take a look.

Smoke like a magic show.

I bought a 420, but haven't had a chance to use it yet. I have a 4x4 and with no question you need a fan. In open grows its not that big a problem from what I have read. It CAN cover a 5x5, but according to Darryl (the owner) that would be only for veg.

Ok, lets talk yield. IF you hang the 420 6" away from the canopy (greatly reducing its coverage area), you can get similar ppfd (if you still think grow lighting is measured in lumens, buy a copy of the cannabible, smack yourself with it, then read this article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Photosynthetically_active_radiation) as that of the 1000W HPS at a few feat. With an air tube you can cut that distance in half, which would quadruple the ppfd. With a fresca sol water tube (now were getting pricey) you can get a 1000W HPS 6" away from the canopy and have some seriously intense light. More PAR / ft2 -> more growth/ ft2 (generally speaking of course). The 420 covers a smaller area at 6", but gives a more even and constant ppfd over that area. The HPS distribution is very reflector dependent. Youtube side by side comparisons show a 420 producing ~half lb and a 1000w hps producing ~ a lb AND a double 420 side by side with a 1000w HPS. The 420s still lost, producing about 15oz. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pJx6i5jSVeo

NOW WAIT! Lets not forget one of the most (the most for me) important aspects of the flower - quality. I am so sick of this commercially grown, hay smelling, non cured bull shit - mostly grown under HPS. HPS produces a very narrow spectrum, which will make the plant produce weight, but it lacks the radiation necessary to produces large quantities of the natural oils, terpenes, and gland production that makes great smelling, tasting, and potent herb. Induction, like cfl (but better - yes cfl can make good smoke too) has a full spectrum that plants love. Yes, plants do use green and yellow light, its been proven, look it up. People can survive while being malnourished of all sorts of vitamins and minerals for long periods - but they don't grow and develop correctly.

All in all, if you want to produce quality nugs for personal use, induction is a great way to go. But don't try and compare it with a 1000W HPS at harvest time.

Wow! I guess if you have a 420, have NOT used it yet and have ALL the knowledge, you MUST be the smartest guy in the room!!! Damn Im amazed. Smh

thats how "cock contest" get started. he was only trying to share info he has read and in no way did he insult you or your post. for you to be so rude and juvenile in your response...u started exactly what u asked the rest of us not to. the fact u prefaced ur post leads me to believe these contest happen to u alot....only maybe u are failing to understand why. nice grow tho and im curious on dry weight in the end. its all about wat works for you as a farmer

lol cool dude

I said that I have one to show why I was interested in the thread.

Was there some part of what I said that you disagree with? The comments weren't directed at you if that's how you took it. Just talking about the lights man. I have talked to Splifferous before, and if you watch his videos (and ask him about his yields) he doesn't yield anywhere close to a 1000w. But that's not what he's doing it for.

My comments were for general informational purposes because I actually took the time to research the light, and STILL bought one, because its a full spectrum light. I wanted to give people a realistic idea of what to expect. If you can offer any sound and logical argument against anything I said please do. Or was it the way I said it?

Notice my name is Induction87.... I started with induction bulbs

Cock contests get started by people starting off a post with "I just bought a 420, but havent had a chance to use it yet". Then ending the post with " dont try and compare it with a 1000w at harvest time." LOL. You can name your profile whatever you like, and you can keep the knowledge that you couldnt possibly have with your 420 sitting in your closet. Thanks

Dude, its a matter of photons. I don't have to turn the thing on to know it doesn't produce anywhere near the same amount of light as a 1000W HPS.

From the Indagro website http://www.inda-gro.com/understanding-par.html

"When measuring light QUANTITY for a plant we look to measure how many PHOTONS, (the minimum unit of energy involving light) are falling each second within a square meter. Photons are such a small unit of measurement that they are referred to as MICROMOLES OF PHOTONS or more often just MICROMOLES to describe a measurement of how many photons are arriving at a plants surface from the emitted light source. For reference 2000 micromoles would be a sunlight level measurement of light.
Of most value to the grower and his plant would be the number of photons being measured at the plant, per second, per square meter, within the PAR ranges of 380-720 nanometers. This value is then known as the PHOTOSYNTHETIC PHOTON FLUX (PPF) level that the lamp emits."

You are making yourself look stupid. If you want to believe hype instead of science, you might as well be a christian...

- It does not even come close to replacing a 1000w HPS.
- 5'5' - maybe for veg. For flower, a 2'x4' works out nicely.
- Add a red next to it using either an LED or smaller HPS for best results.
- I would recommend this light. Doesn't heat the room, grows uniform, nice plants from start to finish.
It will save you money.
