What the hell is wrong with my LA Confidential???

So the plant is growing beautifully, plush green, and the flowers look absolutely gorgeous. Full of crystals. She is around week 4 of flowering.

Usually when I see frost like this, even in week 4, it comes with a good smell profile. Usually you can start to smell the terpenes of the plant.

This LA Con is completely scentless...I don't have a clue what the hell is going on. I mean, not a single smell. Doesn't even smell like a plant. It's like it is non-existent.

Has anybody experienced this before? I'm hoping the smell will come on strong in the last 4 weeks, this is supposed to be one of the world's finest indicas...

Oh hell no!!! Lol, none of that.

I've always had great luck with DNA....I have an LA Woman next to this LA Con, and she is looking just as frosty, but packing on even more weight.

I just don't understand how LA Con can be one of the world's best strains, and not smell at all at week 4. Not even faintly like anything.

I might be in for a surprise though....I sure hope so.

Kind of hard to say what without the food/light/moisture/temps. That said I have one that is almost scentless unless I overdose with molases and bud candy, and carboload, and then it gets a fresh laundry scent. One of my strange MK Ultra crosses. I have noticed that when I give them more sugar than what is called for the odor goes up with all my girls. Now I give em sugar as soon as they have their first set of real leaves. Carbs are important.

Man that would be great to have a plant that didn't smell. I mean, I LOVE the smell of pot but that would be a great bonus when growing.

I would have provided the food/light/temps and what not, if the other 10 strains in my grow room didn't absolutely REEK. I highly doubt it is environmental!! I've been feeding them carbs since week 2 of veg, so I know the microbes are happy. I think she may just be a "late bloomer" in terms of scent. The only smell I get from her smells like moldy laundry, and my rh is 30%, so I know i don't have bud mold.

My pineapple express smelled first 3- 4 weeks of flower then just stopped. It was crazy random. Smell just came back cause they drying. So week 5 -8 was no scent unless nose into a bud.

If buds are growing , and it's getting frosty, I wouldn't worry much about the smell. You didn't buy it to sniff.

One of the major reasons I use medical cannabis is for the variety of terpenes. Cannabinoids aren't the only resins with medicinal properties that are found in the cannabis plant. I've had some strains that HAD to have been at least 5% d-limonene in total mass.

I'm not trying to argue, I'm just saying...Not everybody just grows the plant to smoke it and get high. Certain terpenes are extremely effective in combating certain medical issues. So in my opinion, scent (which basically equates to terpene profile and content) is EXTREMELY important, at least to me.

I would actually prefer a strain extremely pungent with terpenes and 12% THC as opposed to a strain with very few terpenes, but 25% THC (Some sativa varieties fit this mold perfectly).

Don't get me wrong, I love a good smelling plant, especially if it's fruity.
I'm just sayin, I wouldn't worry too much, I think when all said and done, you will have your nice smell too.

I think so too....I'm thinking week 6 or 7 I should know for sure...

Lol...You obviously didn't look at the pictures I posted.

If you did, then you don't know what a trichome is. The reason I started this thread was because of the ridiculous amount of trichomes, yet simultaneous lack of smell.

Peace.

I wouldn't worry either. Just sit back and relax the smell will come. Sometimes I wish the smell would wait till harvest. Sure would make my life easier lol

No offense to Don and Aron with DNA Genetics .. People often fail to understand the real nature of some Land Race based strains such as this one . The Afghani genetics in it are diverse from the wild population . I grew many packs of this and it was the closest to Land Race that they sold until releasing the Land Race Afghani , got some of those too and I expect diversity as well as I have grown some hybrids made from it and elite cuts .. They too are very diverse in the end ..

I fully understand the potential genetic variances of bomb ass strains...

Somango, Fruity Juice, Darkstar.....Just a few examples that I experience instability, as well as great variance in potency and terpene profile.

I've just heard so many great things about LA Con, I didn't expect a landrace Afghan that had the possibility of a pheno completely free of scent. It is advertised, and touted, and one of the best Indicas in the world.
Which it very well might be. I'm being impatient for sure. I think in 4 weeks I will be pleasantly surprised, but also, I think I probably got the worst possible pheno of LA Con.
