Does TGA not make fem seeds?

Nope -- TGA will not make feminized seeds. All regular, all the time. This statement is even in Subcool's auto-signature (or at least it used to be).

Agreed, It's also in multiple episodes of the Weed Nerd videos on youtube, the stance was no fem at the time the videos were made. If their policy has changed, I don't see it on the TGA site under their seed menu either.

Well, at least you're not planning to do breeding with feminized... I hope, anyway.

Sub has stated multiple times that he doesn't believe in feminized seeds and he won't produce them. If I recall correctly, he even one time while ranting about it said "Fem seeds are for pussies"...LoL. I don't know if I would take it that far, but anywho...

I've ordered 3 different 5-packs of TGA seeds and have yet to find a male. I germinate my seeds at 72 degrees, and this is what I largely attribute my excellent female/male ratio to.

If you watch The Weed Nerd 125, Sub even talks about this. He has his crew of breeders and testers (TGA Crew) that have run numerous, numerous experiments trying to find a male. Sub talks about starting 20 Vortex seeds, thinking it was going to be a breeding project, and getting 19/20 females. He then gave 10 seeds from the same batch to somebody else, and they got 7/10 males. The only difference was, the other guy germed the seeds above 80 degrees. He said he has seen this phenomena happen numerous times.

I know when I do my male search in a few weeks, I'm going to build a special germ box to be at a constant 85 degrees. I'm not going to be stubborn and ignore the advice of one of today's best breeders, who has been doing this shit since he was 9 years old. Not to mention, offers some of the finest herb in the world. When somebody speaks, I listen. (Usually)

Did I read that correctly? You said the higher male counts were due to 80+, and your box is going to be 85? Or are you male pheno hunting for breeding?

Yes, you read that right! I'm about to do a female selection out of 3 Chernobyl ladies I have (Taking clones off of each 3 and labeling them), and then I'm going on a male pheno hunt for breeding to knock up my favorite pheno (the clone) with.

I'm still largely undecided on the father strain I wanted to use. I was thinking about Juicy Fruit, but it is extremely unstable so I have rethought that. I'm leaning towards maybe getting a 10-pack of S.A.G.E., or S.A.G.E N' Sour now from T.H. Seeds.

Tell us about your experiences breeding with feminized seeds.
I have done it and the resulting plants have been great.

Pollen chucking and breeding with feminized seeds is fine.

I'm on attitude right now and every seed from TGA comes in a "regular" pack, nothing feminized? Am I gonna have to suck it up?

It is my opinion and the opinion of MANY of the best growers in the legal MMJ state of Washington that TGA is just not worth a run!!! Being that you are in Cleveland and do not have access (I assume) to already found stable TGA clones I would not waste the time/money on TGA for many reasons, stability, % rate of herms, bad mutants, stability (year I said it twice). Many a grows have been ruined by a TGA plant pollenating a room (happened to me with JTR and almost with Deep Purple but I caught it early).

There are many, many great choices of non TGA gear, if you really want to be a sheep and grow TGA, look for their older strains, in talking to other growers certain strains come up as "I never really had a problem" strains. I'll list what I know or know people who have grown and were good.

Agent Orange
Dairy Queen
Space Queen

AoS and Plush can produce amazing plants but tend to throw banners... it's your money do what ya want :)

to be fair these are what I know people to have grown:

Chernobyl
DQ
AO
SQ
Plush
AoS
Deep Purp
Querkle
Ripped Bub
The Flav

and i'm sure more... so of that list I can say 3 people have been totally happy with... not good odds

Myself and a awesome breeder (Lemonhoko Seeds) have been talking about this same thing, I ran some of his Berry White Bx's and got 3 or 5 males. We got to talking, I germed those with a heat mat at about 80 degrees in the room. He stated that has a lot to do with males.

So what he suggested (what he does) is germ at 68 degrees, says it takes longer to germ and may lose 1 or 2 on occasion but female rates should be much greater!

To be fair, I can honestly say I've not tried fem seeds, and the reason I haven't is that I've been going on the advice of others. Perhaps this is a solid wake up call to not bank on anything until I've tried it myself/done it first-hand Thanks for that.
