If I use 32 Watt bulb the replacement is 125 and that's what the bulb puts out only using 32 Watts the why not use replacement Watts when figuring out Watts in room.

Go by 'actual' wattage, not the equivalent...I have 450w in my CFL flower room, if I went by equivalent, it would be more like 1500w...lol..you need around 115w per square foot for your plants, that's actual watts...

But the bulb puts out 100 Watts of light only using 26 Watts of power. Iam going to call cfls grow lights Tomorrow to find out what is really used. Not that I don't trust anyone but you see my point. Why not use regular light bulbs then?

lol..No it only puts out 26w but looks like a 100w..trust me..and you probably could use incandecent, as long as they were the right light spectrum...6500k for veg and 2700k for flower...but they run hotter and you can't get them as close..

Rik. Is right it's the equivalent because it is bright as that amount of wattage I choose not to use cfl only t12/t8 for veg only really for my early veg then m.h then hps for flower but when I did veg under them I packed my space it was almost =to a h.i.d it was so many

I don't mean to highjack, but how far into flowering are you RIKNSTEIN?
I also really want to know why CFLs are an advantage over high output T-5s?
It seems like you use allot more CFLs to get your plants to size?double1 6.jpg1 6AK47a.jpg
These were under five weeks of vegetation at the time these pictures were taken. The plants are respectively 28" and 26" tall.
I vegged these under 450 watts of four 4 foot, 53 watt, four tube T-5s.IMG_0352.jpgIMG_0350.jpg

I'm only 11 days in flower..and I use T5 HO's also and a couple T12s for side lighting as well as some hanging CFLs..my Grow 'closet' is not that big..but the room it's in is..lol..this is just my 'experiment grow' (first) to see if I had a green thumb...my next grow will be in a 14ft x 12ft bedroom with some monsters...hopefully..

What spectrum do the T-12s put out, as it is not listed as a high intensity output bulb?
Edit:
Forgot to tell you that your girls are looking good. Nice.

Thanks for changing the topic. I still you 100 Watts of light using only 26 Watts to power. Why put 100 Watts on the box then if only 26 Watt output?

Because it appears as bright as a 100w incandescent light bulb, which was mentioned before. They started labeling the CFL bulbs like that so when people were switching over to CFL's from incandecents they knew about how bright they would be. If they just put 20w on the package, people would consider it incredibly dim and not buy them.

No you can't use incandescent for growing.

I mean i guess you COULD but DO NOT DO THIS. Gives off too much of the wrong spectrum which will cause them to stretch and become weak. Also they are much hotter and cant be placed as close to your plants. stick with CFLs or upgrade to an HPS or LED system.

you can go by lummens to see how good your light density is,at the equator the sun puts out 10,000 lumens per sq. ft.1 26 watt cfl puts out around 1600 lummens and diminishes as light travels away from the bulb starting at around an 1 1/2" away so roughly 5 26 watts cfls would cover a sq ft at an inch away only good for your tops as the light would diminish greatly with 2 ft tall plants ,you would need more as side lighting in that same sq. ft. area to even get close to sunlight.I'm getting very tired of growing with cfls. The constant manipulation you have to do with your lights and plants ,to keep the lights close without getting any burn.I want to use a 600 watt hps but would have to change my whole set up because of limited height.
