Electrical Question - CFL 65w

Hello, I purchased 2 65w (~4100 lumen a piece) CFLs from Lowes last night for sidelighting. I also purchased one of those hanging worklamp fixtures with the back metal plating (which I removed). The box said it takes 75w Max Incandescent. The problem is the bulb is of Mogul fixture size (the bigger one), and the worklamps take Medium fixture size. Could I use a Mogul to Medium socket adapter? or does this bulb require a ballast? do those work lamps typically come with ballats?

I just want to make sure i'm not going to start a fire.

U can use an adapter. That bulb will barely draw an amp. I picked up a couple of the 65w cfls from lowes awhile ago. They were medium base though.

where the tubes meet the base is a thick white plastic piece before the metal screw in part. that is the ballast for cfl's
the white plastic should have a few holes in it for a vent to cool the ballast.
