Why are people tight with cuts/clones

When I have good smoke, the first thing I want to do (besides partake in the sacrament) is to share with friends of like taste. Sharing kind has always been part of the process in how I enjoy my herb.

About 20 years ago a friend of mine crossed Neville and P91 for 7 generations. He put quite a bit of love into his creation and dubbed it P-Skunk. Understandably, he kept cuts close to the chest (smoked down every onein sight) But, outside of that I am not relating to hoarding strains.

case in point: I have been actively looking for select heads to GIVE away cuts to just because they seem to be sought after and I just think its cool to share.

whats your take on this?

It's old school logic. Times have changed, IMO. Some people hoard, and others help.

I agree with the thoughts here but some cuts are held tight for damn good reasons . Often those who make such will request that there hard work be protected from those who seek to profit from it ..

I have many cuts that fall into this category and I dont hoard them I simply keep them held in high honor and in the end all is well .. I wouldnt want to see these cuts whored out to everyone in line ..

I am not a new grower though and being into this game for almost 25 years I have earned alot of strains and made many myself that are locked down as well among those I trust ..

I think most new growers are spoiled and that most as well have no stripes of there own .. Who walks into the service and receives stripes immediately ? Nobody , you have to put your time in and serve while acquiring such ..

I cant consider someone a real grower as well if they always rely on others for cuts and genetics off hand while never seeking there own or growing seeds .. Real growers find there own and then work with other real growers while building there own bridge so to say..

Here is a short partial list of some cuts that I keep , most that I keep are very rare to begin with and only held be a select few people and the rest are easy to find if you know anyone around the circuit .. My last 3 listed were whored out and easly found in Michigan , the fist three , well you have to be good friends with those that made this or be trusted by there crew simply put ... Sir if saw my garden you would know that I have no reason to be jealous. Seed companies ask me to do runs for them all the time.

It wont be long in this world before most genetics are ruined by improper breeding and carelessness in general and then the fem play comes into view as well .. This and ruderalis is doing us no good in the long haul and eventually all genetics passed in mass form will be subjected to this as well but imagine this , there are some people who refuse to see this happen and they will continue to breed true genetics while sharing offspring but yet retaining the original genetics in order to secure them for future endeavors ..

Ever hear of SeedSavers , there are some farmers who are a part of this circle that hold tight as well the non gmo and heirloom stock , guess they are just flaming greed monsters as well in the end hahahah

Why would I ever spent hundreds of dollars of my own hard cash, spend months, maybe years finding great phenos just to give that all away? I give a lot of my herb away to people in need but I wouldnt sell one of my cuts for less than $200. I would be happy to trade with someone else who put all the hard work, time and money into it. Clones in my area are generally $10 if you you want mites and PM

A tool , use them as tools .. Not every mechanic will pass out his precious set of snap on asshole ! Anyways I think I ll go look at the genetics that you will never see being that I am a greedy man who cares about nobody else and the plant lmao .

hey man, we are just on slightly different pages of the same book.

i get why you are selective of who you share your rare genetics with.

Im just a guy, a dad, I fit in real well with society on the outside (learned to play the game) looking to grow the best meds I can. I'm not trying to make a single dollar, just trying to function at the best of my abilities and herb gets me to that point.

I am not a grower, would love to be able to say that I am one day. I am however growing my first batch and I can tell you that aside from raising my kids, this has been the most fun I can remember having. So, I know I am going to continue to grow. I have some pretty decent genetics going and I want to make sure I share them and that is why I started this thread. I have no ill will towards people that hold cuts close to the chest... Would I like for someone that holds cuts close to the chest to see that I am just a regular head, not looking to turn a profit that is in it for pure reasons to someday trust me with a prized cut with the understanding that I couldn't pass it around... Sure, I'm not gonna lie... But, Since I couldn't share the genetics I sure as hell would feel obliged to share as much of the flowers as I could with the VERY FEW people I smoke with..
