Am I good to go?

Hello fellas,
I've been reading around this website a lot during the past months and I am finally ready (I hope!) to start growing myself.
I just wanted to make sure I have everything I need, especially regarding the soil.
So here's what I've got to grow two plants, am I missing anything?
- two vanilla kush female seeds
- 1,20mx0,70mx0,50m wardrobe covered up in mylar
- four 25 w 6500 lumens bulbs
- timer
- two small pots to start with
- hangers
- 3 clip on 6" fans
- a big filter for smells
- Verve perlite
- Verve vermiculite
- a big tray for pots
- extension leads
- no one who knows about it

So, am I missing anything? And are perlite and vermiculite enough, or do I have to mix them with anything else? I have never done any gardening in my life and am completely ignorant about it! :-P

p.s. I haven't received my bulbs for flowering yet, I know I'm missing those ;)

I'm a hydro guy so I can't help you out with the soil part but by the sound of it looks like you're ready to rock. If possible I'd throw more light into the mix if you can. Pics always help though, lemme know if you got any other questions regarding set up or anything non soil :P

Maybe a soil test kit, in case you run into issues. You can get a cheap one at any home/garden store for under $10. And I didn't see any Nutes listed? Are you trying to grow organic? If not, might want some NPK.

You can also find ready to use soil, with both Perlite & Vermic. already added. Most will usually have a PH buffer like Limestone in there as well. I saw some at my local grocery store today for $4.99 for a 25L bag. Was just a no name "Professional Growing Mix".

I'm still not sure whether what I have is enough or I have to mix it with something else?
Also, I don't know much about nutes, what's the difference between using them and going organic?

With organics you tend to feed the soil natural products, like Worm castings and Bat Guano, rather than adding chemicals to the water.

My grow medium was similar to yours but I also had potting soil.

None that I can think of. I add in some potting soil (no nute added) and peat moss as well, plus some lime. Bit I did one plant with just the two last grow and it worked. What I am not sure of is whether ph should be lower than for soil. Here's a pic of it. You can ignore the circles.

Hmmm, kinda interesting, I would need to know the benefits though before embarking on such a venture.

The potting soil I use has a certain amount of nutrients as is.

Thus you don't need to add anything for 5 weeks, after that point you add your nutrients of choice.

That makes more sense to me.

Hello fellas, just wanted to tell you that I have started growing my vanilla kush seeds, it's been 9 days now and they're growing nicely in perlite, vermiculite and soil.

Can't wait to see pics! I have some VK as well but for some reason it doesn't like to grow as well as my TrainWreck, LostCoastOG and Chocolope...maybe it's cause VK is mainly indica and my others are mainly sativa and i'm not giving the VK something it needs. Keep us updated.

Ok guys, I took a pic last night and today I changed pots, the pics aren't great cause I have a shit camera and I'm really high at the moment ahah
So, first picture from last night (seed put into the soil mix on the 10th of April), the others are from 5 minutes ago.

Also, I apologize from now for any spelling mistake, English isn't my first language so I might sound weird lol.

I think I might turn this into a growing diary, is there any chance to move the thread to that zone?

Can't view your pics man. happened to me the first time i tried to upload pics....then magically the second time it worked. So just retry and dbl check that they are in the correct format

Ya man^^^^^...When i first started i purchased a 150w SunSystem setup, internal ballast, $80. I felt like for the money it'll double the yield on how however many cfls you can buy with that money...not sure how accurate but just don't waist any more money on cfl especially if you feel like continuing to grow bigger better plants :)
