PH level question

I've got a question about PH, what's the best PH level for growing. I just read a artical that says I should keep my PH at 6.5 to avoid getting males... Can anyone give me there input?

In hydro 6.5 will hurt your plants, possibly enough to make them show male flowers.
The best evidence available says that sex is determined in the seed.

So 5.8 is the prime? I read a article just after this post where it states --- 5.2 is the prime date... But then again it's what one article says.... So ill go with what you guys think is better.

I try and keep mine between 5.6 and 6.2 and everything works out fine. I like setting mine at the low end then lett it creep towards the top end naturally.
