The facts of the matter are clear here, prohibition does not and has never worked. I have repeatedly referenced the Washington DC and Chicago handgun bans. Politicians and supporters promised safety and provided tragedy as thousands of innocent law abiding citizens were murdered in their homes as these cities became the most likely places in the country to be shot by a handgun. What responsibility do the politicians and supporters of this legislation take today? Did this legislation not seem "reasonable" regardless of the thousands murdered and out of control crime rates in these cities that followed?
A "legally owned" handgun or assault weapon are in no way synonymous with violent crime or mental illness, no matter how many times a politician tells you different. Bans are a weak attempt by weak law makers to avoid actually addressing the problem IMO.

that gun in the house is far more likely to kill you or your loved ones rather than an intruder. that's the cold hard fact.
but as people who favor handguns for self defense, both you and i stand with obama and his vote against the chicago handgun ban for self defense in one's own home.
both you and i agree with obama that one should be able to use their gun in their own home for self defense, the only difference between you and i is that i live in and acknowledge this reality, whereas you will still not apologize for openly lying to us.
