Soler and Palau TD-150S

So I purchased a silent inline fan, the Soler and Palau TD-150s. The UPS guy just dropped it off and all it came with was the fan casing, the fan and some screws. I see no wires or anything or a AC outlet plug.

Am I missing something here? Has anyone installed one of these before?

I read that thing, it says nothing about the the plug, the motor, or any of that. The instructions explicitly detail the removing of the outer casing and how to screw that in and remount the fan.

There is a diagram detailing a 120 VAC 60Hz -----> Black/Brown/White wires ------> Motor

and another diagram if you want to add motor speed controller. Other then that it does not say anything else :(

This sucks, i'm guessing I should lug this thing to home depot and have someone in electric wire it up for me ;)

I bought wiring, now when I plug my fan in to my 15 amp breaker, it trips the breaker. Ugh.....

I have other things in my room connected too. The only 20 amp breakers are the ones outside in my living room. I might have to either run an extension cord just for my fan or change the breaker to 20 amp in my room.

What do you guys suggest?

I use the heavy black rubber bungie from home depot on a can max 12 keeps it quiet and super easy to hang. I suggest you pick one up

Ok so, I got real cheap with it, took the wiring from my monitor cut the part off that goes to the monitor and spliced the wire. Attached the 3 wires to my fan. I didn't know what direction it blew so I plugged it in, check, it worked and found out the direction the fan pushes. Let it sit in my living room for a good hour blowing air.

Then Attached the ducting to the side that pushes air, attached flange. Hung it upside down in my tent. Realized it was tripping the 15a circuit in my room, so I went out and bought a 40' extension cord and wired it to my living room (20a). Fucking plugged the thing in and there was a strange smell, i didn't see any smoke but the smoke alarm in my room went off. I freaked out and unplugged it.

When the smell disappated, I plugged it in again and let it run for a bit. Was running slow for about 1 min and then took off. When I went to check on it it was blowing air the other direction? WTF? How is that possible that it reversed directions on me? Could the extension cord do that?

I'm not much of a electronics / electrical type person, any help would be immensely appreciated (+rep)

Did I wire something wrong (therefore it caused an awful smell?) ?
Extension cord caused it to reverse flow?
Flipping it upside down?

Welp, I figured it out. I probably shoulda studied the diagram a little more. These plastic fans do NOT come with ground. I plugged live into low speed and neutral into neutral. No more smoking, no more smell. The direction was corrected.

I now have this sweet ass TD150S causing invert pressure in my tent. Hitting a nice 79 degrees stable ambient temperature with the lights on. On low with no insulation or no carbon filter attached yet, it's RELATIVELY quiet. Sounds like a louder desktop computer. Should be manageable when I goto sleep. I just hope the people downstairs can't hear it.

Just so you know, you can NEVER just swap a 15amp breaker with a 20. The 15 amp is there because that's all the wiring that runs off it can handle. The 20amp replacement won't pop, instead the wires in your wall will light on fire. Learn a little about 110 or leave it to a pro before you hurt someone. This isn't some 'could happen'. If you're popping the 15, and replace it with a 20 without replacing all the wire following it, you will have a house fire.

....to top it off, this is in an apt? You really should get a sparky friend to check out your stuff....if not for your own safety, think of everyone in the building. I can see the headlines now....
Something doesn't sound right when your running cords out of the room........ I mean how many amps can you be running?
Good Luck!

Weird man,I have bought two of these, slightly larger S&P units and they came ready to plug and play
they also have a ground wire wired in

Relax children, I didn't make the swap. I googled this several more times and the general consensus is DANGER. The issue was the wiring was off causing a short in the circuit. I am now running everything under the 15 amp still, because I wired the fan correctly with someone with electrical knowledge.

I would NEVER put anyone, myself, or my neighbors in danger.

Just for clarification, what model or company did you buy from?
im running two of the 4inch S&P inline fans (160-170cfm each) and they had the power cord hooked up and ready to go when purchased.

i know some brands don't come with a power cord so you can wire it to a controller

My S&P 160/100 N silent came with no wiring. But it's pretty simple wiring.

Do any of you use a controller with these fans and do they work? Even on low mine is a bit too loud.Heard that it's not good to use them and that the motor starts humming is that true?

I purchased the TD150-S S&P from http://www.hvacquick.com/ just came with the instructions, some screws and no wiring. I used an old monitor wire and cut one end off.

Works perfectly now. No smell or anything. The fan itself isn't super loud, it's the air moving through my ducts that is making the most noise. I'm running it on the low setting, with no controller and it is causing inverted air pressure, as the tent is caving in.

It's actually providing nice, clean crisp air in my room... as it usually smells like fabric softener :P
